Reporting for lewduty!

Let’s make things extra exciting with sparks, smoke and hotties this week. 

LenChi:

First, we took the rough concept Rated made and reshaped it to fit Zoeys new body. We also added poking nipples at this stage already.

Next, we started working on how clothes look when they’re shaded. Since Third Crisis: Neon Nights is soft shaded opposed to hard shading we used in Third Crisis, we needed to test how it would look on clothing.

After that, LenChi began working on the coat Zoey wears. We wanted it to be a mix of casual wear and having some utility, so zipper, pouch and lots of little elements were a must-have. Plus it’s sexy.

Then, we started exploring how we could set tc:nn’s art a bit more apart from the art in tc, without changing the underlying style. For this we more or less exclusively focus on lighting. You can see us trying a rimlight below. We really liked this and also made it so that the rimlight is drawn over the black outline as well. This is the final look that we landed on for the lighting on clothes.

And here is the final result of our iteration! Rimlight, soft shading and specular highlights define the look of Neon Nights, without straying away from what creates the Third-Crisis feel!

Justnox:

Nox was working on environmental art. We did some back and forth on how we want the world of Neon Nights to look. Below you can see a photoshop mockup of the entrance to the glowing hole. This gave us something to aim with when putting all the pieces together in Unity.

The individual sprites used to create the mockup were exported in a sprite sheet and imported into unity. We repack the sprite sheets in unity later on to save on all the empty space.

We ended up having shadows for each sprite on a separate sprite sheet to make our lifes a bit easier in Unity.

Aine Lovia:

Aine is working on the chibis of Neon nights. We wanted to give them tons more detail and also skeleton animation to really upgrade NN’s look from TC, while keeping the core identity (top down chibi representation of a character) intact.
