Big Patreon Update (Important) (Patreon)

Just wanted to relay the information discussed in the meeting on Discord I had on Sunday.

I'll be writing up a changelog here for which tiers are affected and how they have been affected from here on out.

Firstly I'll go over a general overview of what's changing and why. I've discovered that active rewards aren't necessarily working for me as they're preventing me from working on my already massive backlog of art as well as progressing and continuing to study. It's become a major point of stress and I need to convert Patreon into a support-only platform (which in my opinion is what it should be anyways). I'm leaving the passive rewards such as polls, etc. so there's still a bit of fun in it for you guys.

The big replacement for Patron Streams is doing 1-on-1 art tutoring. "But Roy, didn't you just say you didn't want any active rewards???" 

I've spent an awful lot of time this year teaching others and I've always found it to be extremely rewarding and enjoyable. I learn a lot while teaching and in my opinion this reward is a more wholesome and valuable service I can offer since I feel as though skill-building is something that will last a lifetime while a few pieces of art may only satisfy you temporarily before moving on to something else. That's just my opinion though.

Without further ado, here's the changes:

$1 and $5 tiers are unaffected.

Bronze Patrons:

• Icons have been removed

Silver Patrons:

• Icons have been removed

Gold Patrons:

• Icons have been removed
• Patron Streams have been removed
• This role no longer has permissions for voice chat in the "Stream" voice channel on the Discord server
• New limited slots for art tutoring have been added
• An unlimited option for gold without the tutoring has been added for those who just want to pledge the most for support reasons

Platinum Patrons:

• Role has been removed entirely (for now)

I'll be writing up a Terms page for the art tutoring soon. 

Unfortunately this has resulted in a pretty large hit to my income, which is acceptable and definitely expected. I would rather lose money than be subjected to additional stress right now and this change was going to come naturally anyway. It's just been pushed to happen prematurely due to events in my life becoming exceedingly difficult and so this is a move to help relieve some of that stress.

The last thing I want to mention is that I'm looking for feedback specifically for legacy rewards for anyone who has pledged over certain amounts in their lifetime. I'm open to all suggestions even though I have some idea of what I'll be doing with it.

For the near future, this is what I will be working on until I get back to not having a backlog, in order:

• Icons (since it is no longer summer, if you haven't gotten an icon and want to change what you're getting, you can let me know)
• Finishing up all unfinished work from Patron Streams
• R.E.M Comic
• Any unfinished commissions
• Chuki guide

After this point I will finally open up to other projects and commission work. I sincerely thank everyone for allowing me to continue to live and work on art. It's been quite the ride so far and I'm looking forward to how things will progress in the future. <3
