If possible, I would LOVE to fit in Hawkeye and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special in this month, but I wanted to check with you all if it's safe to do that at this point in my MCU journey. I know I'll have to watch Black Widow before Hawkeye, but is there anything else I'm missing? Or do you think I should just continue in release order? Let me know your thoughts! EDIT: to clarify, it's not that I'm not interested in watching WandaVision and the other shows before Hawkeye (WandaVision is DEFINITELY a show that I'm excited for!), it's that I'm trying to see if it's feasible to watch the holiday MCU content while we're still in the holiday season :)

I understand people who say that you have to follow the release order, because it is the only way to be completely safe from spoilers and to be able to understand any reference for sure, but, on the other hand, and with the advantage of having seen each product at least 3 times. I can tell you this: After watching Spiderman far from home and black widow, you can watch any series without major danger of spoilers, the ones that exist are very small, even some movies, like eternals and shang-chi are safe. A lot of those productions were made at the same time, so they can't interact much with each other. I would even tell you that if you needed to see something else before the hawk eye series, it would be the daredevil series, at least the first season, but that's up to you. In the case of the guardians of the galaxy special, I would just suggest you skip the marvel intro. That would be my personal opinion, thanks a lot for enjoying this universe.

People have a stick up their butt about release order. Yes, occasionally you really have to watch one thing before another (black widow before Hawkeye) but otherwise these stories are stand alone enough that it truly doesn’t matter. To the Release Order absolutists: It was one thing to insist on release order out of principle back when they had 3 projects a year, but with so many different stories and styles, the MCU isn’t so strictly linear anymore and you can definitely jump around here and there.
