The “fire gang” who kept popping their heads off did freak me out, kinda still does. You have taken your first step in a great list of fantasy movies. Ladyhawke is my all time favorite, maybe one day I’ll get to watch it with you.

This movie is one of a bunch that my dad absolutely insisted that I see as a kid (along with "Goonies," "The Neverending Story", "The Princess Bride," "The Last Starfighter," "Mrs. Doubtfire," "Willow," and the 90's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie). So, even though it was made almost twenty years before I was born or something, it was still part of my childhood. Everyone talks about how the Fierys were scary when they were kids. I found them delightful! (Side note: They're called "Fiery" 1-5 in the credits, but for some reason my dad calls them the "Chilly Downs." Not sure where that came from, but I'm curious if anyone else knew them by that name). Of course, I also didn't understand why Sarah wouldn't want them to take her head off. I mean if they did, surely, she would turn all stretchy and detachable like them, right? Was that a bad thing? (That was what I was thinking at the time, anyway... I have much darker assumptions as an adult 😨). I'm glad you liked it. I will never complain about giving "Labyrinth" another watch!
