Great review. I was mystified by this as a kid, and yes Meg Foster steals the show. I remember also being disappointed by both the original and the reboot ‘Dads Army’ movies.

I think a good special ( and cheap) for DC to do is the best comments on DC for the last ten years; funny and profound.

At least there are a few of Jean Giraud/Moebius's designs that made it to the screen so that there's at least its cheapness has a fresh look! As for TV shows (needlessly) brought to the big screen with awful results, I think nothing can beat the Penelope Spheeris adaptations of The Beverly Hillbilies and The Little Rascals. So bad that they're absolutely unwatchable.

Stephen Crane

I just have one question: Did Detective Lubic ever have hair?

Anonymous

Meg always commits. She was one of the best parts of They Live.

My husband, bless his heart, insisted on getting this from Netflix a while ago and I remember thinking "was the show like this?" At least Skeletor's voice actor in the cartoon was having fun!

Anonymous

Never saw the Super Mario Brothers TV show, but I had a crush on Samantha Mathis and so paid to see the movie version when it came out in 1993. Not one of my smarter decisions. That one's probably due for a review...

He-Man: the only character in the universe that takes off clothes when he transforms from his secret identity.

Anonymous

In Woody Allen’s ‘Love and War’ he has a little. It’s not much.

I remember a novelization to this film where they discover a spaceship within the dungeons of Castle Grayskull, complete with US flag and the plot goes all 'Planet of the Apes' when it is suddenly explained by He-Man, that unintentionally time-travelling astronauts from earth future build up the high technology civilisation of Eternia ages ago. What a let-down.

'SMB' is a bit like the Cathy Lee Crosby 'Wonder Woman'. It's a good family movie. It just isn't Mario.

Anonymous

The sequel script was reworked into the Jean Claud van Dam movie 'Cyborg'.

Anonymous

Frank Langella. On one hand his portrayal of Dracula. On the other, Skeletor... Heck of a career.

Anonymous

Reading the plot summary made my head hurt. I had forgotten what a complex and deeply layered story the film has.

An actor's life for me! One week you're Hamlet, the next, a dancing bunch of grapes in an underwear commercial.

As a child I was really dissapointed, that Skeletors skull looked like a porridge-related kitchen accident. Not only the sick shades of green and yellow were missing, the producers couldn't even be bothered to let the make up have some contrast, like shaded sockets or jaw joints.

Anonymous

The most disappointing transfer of a beloved TV series to the Big Screen for me is Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp. A travesty!

Skeletor's nostrils in extreme closeups. They had to have all known how bad that looked.
