Great review. I guess this is the closest we’ll get to the mythical ‘McCormik and Jojo’. As for the bad plan Dr Mittenhand in ‘Leprechaun 4 in space’ springs to mind.

Always appreciate Robin’s Dad setting things straight. I also continue to appreciate when the shirt isn’t relevant to the movie, though in this case I’m hoping it foreshadows a review of Sonny Chiba’s The Streetfighter. As for the question, Murder By Phone’s eponymous killing technique isn’t actually that dumb, but it does rely very heavily on the ignorance and credulity of its victims (also on landlines remaining the dominant form of distant communication, which I can’t hold it to account for but its still funny that the march of progress left the movie feeling extremely dated).

Love any commentary where your Dad shows up.

Scott Nesmith

Lex Luthors plan in Superman: the Movie was pretty over the top.

Always glad when your Dad arrives to clear things up.

I shall never again trust any scientific paper, as long as it does not state 'Aproved by: Robin's dad' on the cover.

Another bad revenge would be Hercules the dwarf in 'I don't want to be born' who takes his revenge on Joan Collins for not letting him rape her by cursing her, so that when she has a child it's a murderious baby side effect being it exorcism kills him. It's worth watching for Ralph Bates Italian accents and it's long long montage scenes of him shopping in Piccadilly.

It's not a dumb plan, but in Eye For An Eye, Christopher Lee's repeated assertions that the cops will never find or get into the compound where the leaders of the drugs cartels are gathering, even as Chuck Norris and Mako are infiltrating, while Richard Roundtree is leading a SWAT battalion through the gates, are pretty dumb.

Anonymous

He was counting on hearing the whawha guitar that precedes Roundtree.

Oh, and that musical letter sending montage--God, Miami Vice did more damage than it will ever know.

For some reason my first comment didn't post. Anyway, I nominate Cobra Commander from GI Joe as having the most asinine plans--they are Rube Goldberg nightmares of complexity, moving parts, and dumb luck, and none of them seem designed to have a Cobra-centered favorable outcome even if they had worked.

God help me, I had a good time with this movie. I'm not saying it's good, but it's an entertaining way to spend an hour and change.

Stephen Crane

At least Poncherello finally got a promotion.

Black Moon Rising, Samurai Cop, Plan 9 From Outer Space and, of course, Howling II, all fall into that category for me.
