Setting a standard from the outset, Dracula's Death bears little, if any, resemblance to Bram Stoker's original novel and over the next 100 years studios like Universal and Hammer would capitalise on the popularity of the count, but so would everyone else.  While the likes of Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee would become movie legends for their portrayals, other actors like Leslie Nelson and Luke Evans would be mercifully forgotten.  Then there was Gary Oldman,  Frank Langella and of course Paul Naschy.  But Dracula films were not just about the Count.  We also got Dracula's Dog, Dracula's Daughter, Dracula's Granddaughter,  his conflicts with Frankenstein, Jessee James and Killer Barbys.  Dracula movies run the gambit of movie genres from period drama to sci-fi,  Join us a we celebrate a century of Dracula.

I'll be watching this later this afternoon. It's a sit and chill deep dive.

My favourite Dracula film? Easy, Bela Lugosi as the Count. What film do I want to check out? I'm thinking Caradine. I've got the whole Legacy Collection, but don't remeber seeing either "House of...". So they're on the watch list.

Need to see Dracula’s Daughter. Favourite Dracula film, can I have ‘Nosferatü’

Somewhat distressed to learn that Robin actively dislikes Dracula 1931.

I want to see Blood of Dracula just for the female take on the B movie version of the monster film.

I think doing the Lugosi special made me appreciate it more, but it always suffers for having to stand next to James Whale's Frankenstein. rb

We reviewed it a little while ago. It's a pretty serviceable B movie with a couple of ridiculous plot devices and some horrendous dialogue. rb

You said that no film can sully Dracula's legacy, Robin, but my Dark Lord Bram Stoker's Dracula comes very, very close. The first time I watched it, I needed to immerse myself in Nosferatu to not despise Dracula forever.

Change the title to Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula (based on the novel by Bram Stoker) and it's no worse than a lot of other adaptations. I'd still rather watch the Jess Franco version. It may feature a mirror the size of a pool table & be rather dull, but at least Christopher Lee looks and acts like Dracula; no angst there!

Busy week, only watched this 6/10. Great, great special. Saw some old favorites and some interesting new ones. In re Dracula Father & Son, it's not bad, certainly not Christopher Lee's scenes, if you get the English UNCUT version or the French version, both of which feature Lee's own voice. Lee is very elegant & seductive, but also gets some comic moments, including an homage to his beloved cartoons. I recommend it, but only in the original.

Don't really want to see Dracula's Fiancee, but may have to, just to figure out why the poster features Nancy Barrett from Dan Curtis' House of Dark Shadows. Did they "borrow" some scenes for their film, or is the poster art totally devoid of relevance to the film itself?

Blood of Dracula's Castle is currently available on https://www.amazon.co.uk/BLOOD-DRACULAS-CASTLE-John-Carradine/dp/B0102RF23A/ref=tmm_dvd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1623548151&sr=8-2 It's also on Amazon.com as a double feature with The Hearse. The Dracula film is, apparently, "the werewolf version"
