Summary: After countless millennia of watching, waiting and stalking, the unholy creatures known as werewolves are poised to inherit the earth. After newswoman Karen White's shocking on-screen transformation and violent death, her brother Ben is approached by Stefan Crosscoe, a mysterious gentleman who claims that Karen has actually become a werewolf. But this is the least of their worries... To save mankind, Stefan and Ben must travel to Transylvania to battle and destroy Stirba, the immortal queen of all werewolves, before she is restored to her full powers!

I don't think I'll ever understand Philippe Mora's career, from Howling 2 to Death of a Soldier. Unless i'm mistaken isn't this the first Australian movie you've covered? oh and any plans on doing Howling 3, 4 or 5?

Great review. Really is a baffling film. Matt Damon should apologise for ‘Downsizing’.

For all his protestations Christopher Lee was not adverse to being in complete tripe. A movie called Eugenie from 1970 being a prime example. Its one saving grace is the main actress spends the last five minutes of the film wandering naked around what looks like Walsall.

"Punch Redgroin"... Why couldn't my parents have named me this? No imagination at all! You think Jenny was chosen because her resemblance to Jamie Lee Curtis? Actors giving apologies? Almost any of the horror greats at the end of their careers I suppose. Michael Caine stated many times that most of his film roles were done to pay the bills. So, not sure.

Great review. The acting in these films almost always took a backseat to physical looks...and payroll. This film is definitely in Trolls 2 territory but with a better budget.

Linneah Quigley would have stipulated a minimum amount of of nude scenes, not a max. My first thought to answer the question was Martin Balsam but I have no idea why because he’s always a relief to see at the least.

In 'Creepozoids' Quigley and Kim McKamy swapped roles as McKamy refused to do the nudity. McKamy later changed her name to Ashlyn Gere and did nothing but hardcore porn.

I don't think most actors owe apologies for doing low budget crap because hey diddle dee dee, an actor's life for me means you are at the mercy of fate from first to last. However, currently established stars who do big budget atrocities definitely need to write "I will make better choices" 1000 times. Case to cite: the entire cast of "The Haunting," the unnecessary violation of The Haunting of Hill House.

Not coming up with actors right off the bat, but producer/studio head Terry Levene of Aquarius Releasing still owes me five bucks for the admission I paid in 1985 for "Evils of the Night".

This is one of my Guilty Pleasures. I like the little touches, like the least believable young couple since The House of Long Shadows getting put in room 666 of a hotel that doesn't have 6 floors. At least they didn't try to explain Stephan's back-story! Lee plays this part absolutely straight, with all the commitment that he brought to every role. Sybil Danning also gives a heroic performance in a part that could have done for Werewolves what Rocky Horror did for... whatever Rocky was meant to be.

I always thought Lee's character had potential, which could have driven the whole film. Although the pieces never came together. It's one of those where you sort of imagine he didn't realise what a mess it was until he got on set. Also I always got the impression Lee and Danning were only in LA and didn't go to Prague which is why Lee hangs out in the Church till he appears at the castle and Danning is always in the castle.

Chris Lee says a line or two, cut to a reaction or something daft. In many cases it seems as if Lee had multiple lines which would have made the cringe worthy one liner more reasonable. Those extra lines being then cut because... well, there were those 17 repeats of Sybil ripping off her shirt that had to be fit in somehow.

I was rather astonished by just how bad this film was. Sequels always have an uphill climb, but I believe this may be the worst sequel ever. Even EXORCIST II has more going for it. And if you haven't seen it, check out the next one, also directed by Mora, which is totally bonkers, subtitled THE MARSUPIALS.

The whole HOWLING franchise is a lesson in how not to do a series, tho' I did rather enjoy VI: THE FREAKS for some cheesy fun. Maybe you should do a review on the whole series?

When I saw Ben Kingsley in the atrocious Mike Myers film, The Love Guru, I remarked that anyone in the UK that is knighted for their acting and then appears in something so rotten ought to have their knighthood immediately stripped from them.
