I agree with Robin, it would be fascinating to know why Hitchcock didn't like this film. It sounds like a very sad story, overall.

Really good video. I agree it’s a great film and looks amazing. I also thought of Murnau. Really don’t know why it’s so overlooked.

I'm intrigued to watch this now, because melodrama is just as good/entertaining as any other form of film, depending on how well it's made. Just the descriptions made me hit Google images to find shots. On the other hand, the title makes me picture a bunch of short-tailed cats dressed up in little outfits swooning before the camera.
