Great video. I always thought this sort of ground to halt when Marlene wasn’t on the screen. I wonder if ‘Ordinary’ Smith inspired ‘Fancy’ Smith in ‘Z Cars’ played by BRIAN BLESSED.

"I would consider 1950 as the last decade of the 1940s." I feel the same way about 2020 for the 2010s.

Culturally you can argue the 90s were pretty short. They didn't really start till September '91 and ended in early 1998 when you had the Pre Millennium Tension which lasted till 2002 so the 2000s didn't start till then.

You must not having been paying attention to the movie immediately after the credits. I just rented the DVD. After the credits, it shows Jane Wyman driving Richard Todd in a car. Then he explains what he says happened. Then we see Marlene Dietrich in a flashback in the blood stained dress. So Hitchcock never directly lied to us in the movie.
