Stephen Crane

What sci-fi movies portray humans in a bad light? All of them, just about. Sure Hugh Marlowe was the hero in Earth vs. the Flying Saucers but he was a dick to his new wife with "Married two hours and already she's claiming community property!".

Always fun to see Robin's dad give his scientific observations. I'm still going to recommend a review of Shock Waves which may be a bad movie, but it's a guilty pleasure for me.

Happy to see a second visit from Dark Corners Dad. You say Picard would have done it differently and he definitely would, but I think things would have played out very similarly with Kirk in place of Frankchapman (not a typo). TOS Era Kirk, that is. Movie Kirk I’m not so sure.

Apart from ET, pretty much every alien contact movie shows humanity in a bad light. Ah, Men in Black maybe? When Tommy Lee Jones character is shown as having greeted the aliens with a bunch of flowers?

Another great review! Would like to hear more from the Science Adviser on the subject of shrinking the hero. If the shrinking process only works on living cells, then his hair shouldn't shrink, nor his finger/toe nails or the enamel of his teeth. Wouldn't that have been a pretty sight!

Scientific Advisor Dad! Yaaaaay! *Kermit arm flail* Say, could you run by him how Frank shrank in the first place? He was inside his suit and breathing "his" oxygen, so there was no reason for it. They make a big stinkin' deal about how he has to get back inside to get to normal size and be found by the end, so what the hell??

That is one thing they do get right in 'Downsizing' the rest of the film is like Ed Wood on a bad day, but they get that right. Well except on the rat at the beginning.

Janeway would have trodden them underfoot and laughed maniacally.

This is a kind of random one, but I actually think 'Halloween 3: Season of the Witch' would actually work really well as a 'Doctor Who' story. You just swap the protagonist from being a doctor to the Doctor and it works. In theme it's actually very close to a Fourth Doctor/Romana1 story.

I just love that, once again, science fiction B movies establish the "wonderful" role of women. All this movie is missing is the female scientist/astronaut who serves the men coffee.

That Solarite must be the goofiest alien ever to appear on a film screen

Jasmine Zantara

For the second time, the cameo by Robin's dad has brought me to tears of laughter. I had to replay the moment six times.

Zetha - if Elizabeth Taylor and Joan Collins had a baby together.
