As delightful a review as its subject!

Any actor who turned down a chance to work with Price in savaging their critics should turn in their SAG card immediately! I personally love some of Vincent's early work in Laura and Dragonwyck, where he's still being used as a leading man type physically, but both the characters are far darker and more broken under their charm.

Stephen Crane

The Dresser II: Donald Wolfit's revenge is the play Ronald Harwood wanted to write.

While this is my least favorite of Vincent Price's films (due to certain scenes), there is no doubt that Price himself was a master showman and he could make even the most ridiculous horror plots seem genuine. As for critics that were unkind to films I liked, I believe the biggest offender was Roger Ebert. His chastising of horror/slasher fans in the early 1980's was appalling. He referred to horror fans as people "who hate women", even though horror films had plenty of female fans too.

You've said it all. Just a classic bit of fun that, to use an old cliche, does what it says on the tin!

Price was excellent in everything that he did, even, Deity Help Us, "Mod Squad". He used that wonderful voice like a Strad, ramping it up for the over the top roles, like Egghead in Batman, and dialing it back for Song of Bernadette and The Ten Commandments. One of my personal favorites is House of the Long Shadows. Not necessarily his best film, but because he got to share scenes with Lee, Cushing & Carradine! As for reviews & reviewers, I have a fairly thick skin, and as long as they are amusing about it, I can take it when they don't have the same opinion of a film as I do. Actually, I usually know that a particular film is ... ahem... not so good, but I like it anyway. (Loved what you did with Hawk the Slayer ;-)

I’m going to go meta and say that every villainous Price role is my favorite because by all accounts I’ve heard (granted, by people eulogizing him) he was the complete opposite. And his banana bread recipe is divine if you defy his instructions at the last step and undercook it slightly so its gooey.

For me favourite Price is 'Witchfinder General' which is a great film. Although the first thing I saw him in was 'Edward Scissorhands' where he is magnetic in his very short scene. Don't forget his perfect introduction to Alice Cooper's 'The Black Widow'. https://youtu.be/oIeAVBTeuV8 You forgot to mention Joan Hickson. Whose performances as Miss Marple cause all other Marple's to be negatively compared to her by reviewers. William Malone's 'FearDotCom' gets a really raw deal with reviews, especially aggregator reviews. As the majority review the badly cut US version, that doesn't make sense as its shed key scenes to get an R rating. The European version (which is on Netflix in the UK) is a really good film.
