I found Madman (1982) simultaneously formulaic and a stand out example of the Slasher genre. Not quite to the level of The Burning, but few are.

Killer from the wilderness? Besides the forementioned 'Hills...' and the hardly not to mention 'Wrong Turn' I'd say 'Ravenous', 'Bone Tomahawk' and allow me to add even 'Predator' and 'Dog Soldiers'.

As a West Virginian, I wish more movies (of any genre) that were set in WV had actually been filmed in WV. Alas, our terrible infrastructure and refusal to offer much, if anything, in the way of tax incentives has meant that very few movie and TV productions have been shot here. It's a damned shame as we're chock full of gorgeous scenery. Sigh.

Favorite Killer From the Wilderness has to be Ravenous (1999) with Robert Carlyle. I've only seen it once, but that was enough... It's available on Amazon streaming.
