A favourite unlikely sequel? Tricky. Possibly 1990's "Childs Play 2"? I never saw Chucky having the long life he has had. Or maybe "Candyman 2". I thought it ad all been wrapped up nicely. Possibly "Darkman 2 - The return of Durant". A movie I liked but was not expecting. WAIT! Got it! that 2008 piece of... what is the word or phrase? A fan film? "Monster X Strikes Back: The G8 Summit" There was no way anybody could see that coming. A bad sequel to a bad 1967 Kaiju flick? Hah!

I think TCM2 was both brave AND insane at the same time, and for reasons Robin kind of alluded to. Mr. Hooper knew better than anyone that he’d caught lightning in a bottle with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and now he was expected to do it again by writing something that would be equally as shocking and terrifying. Realizing (correctly, in my opinion) that this was more or less impossible, he didn’t bother trying and instead pled insanity in film form. I think it held up in court.

‘Shock Treatment’ the sequel to ‘Rocky Horror’ is surprising and was way ahead of it’s time.

Unlikely sequels? There's Curse III : Blood Sacrifice (aka Panga), which apparently has NOTHING to do with the 1st or 2nd film, and The Madness of George III, which had to be retitled The Madness of King George for the American audience, so that they wouldn't think that it was a sequel!

Actually it’s a myth that Madness of king George was retitled so it wouldn’t be seen as a sequel. Actually it was to get a separate copyright that distinguishes the film from the filmed version of the RSC show. Although ‘Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone’ was retitled as Americans wouldn’t have understood it, as Americans adopted the French term, Sorcerer’s Stone, for the mythical device.
