Stephen Crane

What are the chances this inspired Billy Wilder for the original planned opening of Sunset Boulevard in the police morgue?

"Mr Lee would have the same question" - Nice touch!! Believe me, DC Lords, I perfectly understand how it is possible to love an actor without liking all of their films!

"If I allowed myself to be announced, I doubt I would be received anywhere." has got to be one of the greatest lines of dialogue that I have never heard. It ought to be on T-Shirts & Bumper Stickers!

I’m not sure if this is a distinction without a difference but Bela’s one of those actors I never blame a movie being bad on. He’s often a positive, never a negative basically. Martin Balsam and John Carradine are much the same.

Must agree with you HTV. Lugosi and Carradine were actors who could be relied upon to cover up or carry through, any failings in budget, story or direction. There are not and never were many of those around.

The most confusing film I've ever seen? Possibly 'Tree of Life', which can only be understood after a decent mix of Lebanese gold and/or Thai stick. A long, long time ago I was at the BFI and saw 'Un chien Andelou', touted as a film conceived by Salvador Dali. That one made no sense what so ever. And then there is always a favorite of mine 'Tetsuo, the iron man' which is just plain bonkers. I mean nuts. And yet, there were sequels...

'Un chien Andelou' is supposed to be surrealist, and so in that sense it does made sense. It also inspired Pixies 'Debaser'

'Mind Trap' aka 'Danger USA' is pretty confusing. I also found the concept of the 'Mrs Brown's Boys' movie confusing, I have no idea of the plot just the concept of why anyone would want to sit through two hours of that. Although there is only one 'Mrs Brown' film (two if you count the Anjelica Huston version) there are 8 live action and one animated films of her inspiration 'Madea'.

Lucio Fulci's THE BEYOND had me pretty confused. And I am still not sure if this film revels masterly in a distinctive dream-logic or if the threads just got hopelessly entangled half way through the story.
