I agree the serial killer line is a little weird but if she’s known him long enough then it could be completely normal for him, which is a concept I feel like I’ve seen done hamfistedly in many horror movies as a red herring but I can’t name one.

To his "credit," I suppose, is the fact that Herschell Gordon Lewis would look you in the eye and say, "I did it for the money." I don't believe he ever tried to wrap himself in art or The First Amendment. That doesn't make the movies better (or even tolerable), but at least the guy was honest.
