I'm Not Working On: Terror is a Man

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us on this film, Robin. I remember hearing the title, but never really knew what the film was. Sometimes when a film has multiple titles, I end up watching a film more than once. That can get pretty annoying when I'm about 30 minutes into the film only to think, "This looks familiar. Did I see this before about five years ago?"

Poor Greta Thyssen.

Robin, your hilarious description almost intrigued me enough to see this drivel...ALMOST.

Thanks for that Robin - great idea to do a quick video on something that didn’t warrant the full Dark Corners treatment.

I enjoyed this. I hope you'll do more "I'm not working on" videos.

Oh man, a local show here in Seattle. Professor Fred's Movie Marvels, shows this one quite a bit, and uses several clips from it in its opening: the mad scientist's wife saying "I can't help being afraid," a shot of the panther creature, the creature hitting the light and making it explode...

"Dark Corners Quickies" - great idea!

“I’m helping! I’m helping!” - Bizarro Stormy from Sealab 2021, is basically how I think my contributions can be summed up.

I spent 1985 to 1996 working in Saudi Arabia (yes, including sitting through Gulf War 1) and we had a bazzilion Filipino's working for us. And, as they sent money home, guys coming back from R&R brought BETA and VHS tapes back. (Yes, we all had BETAmax...) I've seen this and and a whole bunch of other Filipino horror, action and soft core Rom-coms. Oh, the Houseboy? Yep, he was a Buklah (spelling is rubbish,), every movie had them. Riotous laughter from my crew whenever these guys came on scene.

Then I probably will. At least then I haven't wasted time watching a movie we can't use. rb

Oh, Blood Island and Dr Moreau? I'll have to check it out, but might do some painting if it's so slow ;)

Hey Dave - I've lived in the Philippines for over 12 years now (Married my wife, who is from here, when I arrived - best thing I ever did). I also saw the film. BTW, it's Bakla :) (my brother-in-law is one - he comes over with his friends every now and again and it's a riot) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakla

Interesting video. I don't know if you would be interested, but you could do a retrospective on the adaptations of Wells' novel in movies. There some goods ones and some sclock ones.

Interesting idea. But I've actually never read a Wells book, so I would have some serious work to do. rb

Watched the film tonight. Dreadfully slow going, but aside from that, not all that bad. Rather too much time spent wandering around the island. But at least I understand the whole business of Dr Dreadful saying "man...man...man" at the poor monster; it teaches it the word, so it can say it's word and give us some insight into the fact that it has a brain that has enough higher functions to realize that it is being tormented, who is tormenting it and who does not want to hurt it. It's quite sad, actually....
