Equivalent expressions to "coals to Newcastle" include "owls to Athens" and my favorite, "vampires to Santorini."

Looks like he should have sued the makers of The Strangeness (1985) too, which I officially recommend for a review.

I used to think that "Sand to Saudi" was another one of those, until I worked there. The Saudi's have to import a lot of sand for construction projects... As to rip off's, I'd take a guess and say that Kuosawa's Samurai flics Yojimbo, Sanjuro and 7 Samurai are the most 'ripped off' movies ever.

Wow. Two of my least favorite things, caves & messy monsters. Blech!

For rip off storylines, definitely The Most Dangerous Game. Seen variations of that one in everything from B movies to network TV. To be fair to these particular rip off artists, I did think of The Descent immediately. Of course, that film was original and scary and had excellent characters and motivations and plot twists and....wait, it wasn't like this at all!

Stephen Crane

The story of Aliens possessing human astronauts was old hat when Doctor Who did it in the early 70's with Ambassadors of Death.
