In A Song of Ice and Fire, and presumably also in the Game of Thrones show, there is a legendary sword yet to be forged. I admit that it is a sword that has existed before, but it must be created again, from scratch. Also it might be an ancient poetic metaphor.

The Sampo from Finnish lore/ The Day The Earth Froze was known before it was forged. It wasn’t a sword, but the principle is the same.
