Summary: A princess from a small Himalayan country becomes possessed by the spirit of a Venusian (a Martian in the American version) and escapes a plane just as it explodes. As this happens a meteorite falls from the sky containing Ghidorah, the monster responsible for her planet's destruction. At the same time, Godzilla and Rodan emerge from hibernation and not only attack Japan, but each other as well. Mothra, along with its twin priestesses, attempt to convince Godzilla and Rodan to stop their fighting each other and to team up to fight the new monster. At the same time, the princess is being hunted by a group of assassins who want to kill her so that her enemies can take over her homeland.

Not so much a fan of early godzilla. Silly plots and silly fight scenes

More, please. Godzilla vs Monster Zero/ Invasion of Astro-Monster would be a great follow-up to this review because it’s next in the series, features Ghidorah, and it’s a VERY 60’s sci-fi. I’m not sure how destroying rural Japan furthers the aliens goals of world conquest though 🤷‍♂️ Godzilla vs Megalon is also a great choice because it’s just crammed with weirdness.

Also I’d like to mention the contrasting image of Japan I got watching all these as a kid. Ask many people and you’ll get a description of Japan (meaning Tokyo) as being this slick, clean place set in The Not Too Distant Future thanks to them probably mainly watching anime. But I would have called it something of a slightly high tech dump. You see smokestacks and banal architecture often filmed in grimy ways, and that was before it’s all wrecked by kaiju.

I love this movie
