It's funny that you compared Mechamaru's finger launcher to Yû Yû Hakusho's Spirit Gun because in the last episode, when Nobara looked at pics of Ozawa (the fat girl who turned tall and slim), she said "You're a real Kuroko Sato". Kuroko Sato is actually a character from the last arcs of Yû Yû Hakusho. She's a retired Spirit Detective who had a miraculous growth spurt too, from a little blob to a tall and slender figure, just like Ozawa.

It's funny that you compared Ultimate Mechamaru to Pacific Rim robots, because like I said under your previous reaction, Pacific Rim is an American copypasta of the anime Evangelion. Ultimate Mechamaru is a visual tribute to Evangelion, even the way the inside of the cockpit looks like, with all the little crosses. Here, the last moments of the fight between Mahito and Mechamaru are different from the manga. They made it more epic by turning it into a visual tribute to Gurren Lagann, another mecha anime from the same people that made Evangelion. Watch this short clip : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMwOIbWIjqk And now this one : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqSopR9woLg See how they added a drill on the forehead of Mahito? This drill wasn't in the manga. It is a visual reference to the drill from Gurren Lagann. Even the colored lights coming from Ultimate Mechamaru's head at the start of the episode are a visual reference to the cosmic explosions from Gurren Lagann. Or the green light that propulses Mechamaru against Mahito. Even down to the animation style that emulates the style of Hiroyuki Imaishi. The design of Ultimate Mechamaru in the manga was already a tribute to Evangelion, but Studio Mappa decided to take things even further by turning the whole episode into a tribute to Gainax/Trigger (the studio that produced Evangelion and Gurren Lagann).

WHy did no one point out that Wes keeps calling Mahito "mohito" and Steph calls Mechamaru "metamaru" which is confusing considering the names are spelt and pronunciation?

i think it's easy to forget since it hasn't been mentioned for awhile
