FOX has a history of giving up on shows after just one season, especially science fiction series. They aired Firefly on a horrible time slot, never advertised the show properly, and aired the episodes out of order. They never honestly understood the show. Hell, they bitched at the idea of Wash and Zoe being a married couple for some reason, but Whedon refused to change that fact. Ratings were garbage compared to the Buffy/Angel numbers FOX thought they'd be getting with the show so they cancelled it after just eleven of the episodes had aired.

River has spent almost the entire series barefoot so her feet are probably well-calloused by this point. The reason why you have fifteen episodes on your list is because some sites split the feature-length pilot into two separate episodes which was done for syndication purposes. Since whatever streaming service you're using for Firefly kept the episodes in their intended order and format, the pilot was kept as one episode, leaving you with fourteen. Who eats horses you ask? Mexico, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Japan, Germany, Indonesia, Poland, China. There are others, I'm sure. Yes, that was the shower/bathroom area that Book was coming out of before getting knocked out by Early.
