Giles could have waited until Buffy finally revealed what happened, but who knows how long that would be, and we know that Buffy has a tendency to avoid dealing with her issues, ironically it being the way she deals with her issues, like the previous year when she died and when she came back and took it out on everyone, running away to some other city after killing Angel, and when she came back and her friends and mom being all weird to her she wanted to leave again without calling them all out on their bullshit. So Giles like a true guide/Watcher/father knows Buffy better than she knows herself, and he knows if she keeps quiet her grief might eventually manifest in worse ways than avoiding dating again and moving on. Like Buffy said, she had been holding on to it for so long it felt good to tell her friends.

I still dont think it was ok the way everyone was handling Buffy being back. I still think they were bitches e_e including Joyce with hat she said to her friend. Again: yes, she has the right to vent but can you make sure its not in the house where your daughter could be listening? xD
