I actually like this episode. A big problem I had with the first half of season three is that we didn't see Walt and Jesse really hang out anymore. "Fly" is entirely about Walt and Jesse. There is slapstick and stupid crap, such as hitting each other with the fly swatter. Some really funny lines. The scene with the ladder is one of my favorite in the whole series. Jesse forgiving Walt without knowing the extent of his involvement in Jane's death is extremely sad. Walt tries to tell him about Jane, Jesse interrupts by telling him to hold onto it, meaning the ladder, but it might as well be about the secret that Walt was trying to tell him. The lab represents Walt's mind, his personal hell, full of guilty contaminant. He tells Jesse his perfect moment to die was the night that Jane died and that he should have never gone to Jesse's house. We know he means the second time, but Jesse can't. The fly that Walt pursues may or may not even exist until we find out that Jesse can see it too. The lab feels strange and isolated. The episode actually reminds me a lot of the film, "Waiting for Godot." If you enjoyed this episode, you may want to check it out.
