Light, you don't think that much about it. Flip a switch and it's just there, doing whatever light does.

When animating, it's never that simple. Lighting is the most important aspect because it dictates the look of everything. Some lighting might look good but also be very taxing on rendering times. It's a trade off and you've got to strike a good balance. It therefore takes careful planning and testing to make a scene look natural and appealing with viable render times.

For example, what you see here, is the main scene I'm using for my upcoming animation "Shortcake" (and yes, the title of this post was an intentional play on words). It might look weird from the outside but all is necessary to make it look freakin' fabulous on the inside, and this will be my best looking animation by far because of it. This is what I've been spending many, many hours on setting up during the past week. I'm taking it to the next level, guys. 

I'll be posting the first scene I've rendered out for those of you with tier "Snack" or higher shortly.

Having done some 3D rendering myself I can appreciate just how much hard work your putting into this :) can't wait for the outcome
