Start of week: 27,271 (for chapter 4)

End of week: 34,648

Change: +7431

Year to date: 141, 831

A funny week for writing. Some days were a real struggle; a few others, I hit the golden 2,000 mark. I suffered some mid-week hump insecurity over the current scene, as demonstrated in the show vs tell poll.

This week I polished up the "bridal" scene, and shifted Julia and David back to her apartment so she could reveal the next surprise. It's an important plot point, which is why I think I've struggled with writing it. In any case, I should have that scene finished early next week. It sets up the final scene with Julia, so I'm hoping to get that started, too. Chapter 4's nearly done - a good thing, as it's growing unwielding again in terms of length!

The poll suggested people prefer the long-write, detailed action and dialogue bumping the plot along. My concern, always, is that I'm overdoing it - too much description, too much dialogue, too much introspection and the like. Stephen King suggested cutting 20% of any first draft; I wonder what the chapter would look like with a couple thousand words trimmed away? One, I'll have to try.

Finally, I've update Chapters 3-1 and 3-2 so that they're available to all paid subscribers ahead of those scenes popping up on TGStorytime. You should receive a notification that they're now accessible - I think.

Next week:

Saturday: archive post of Book 1, Chapter 6 for all paying members

Sunday: archive post of Book 1, Chapter 5 for all paying members

Monday: Sneak Peek from Chapter 6 - some potential violence after a night out.

Tuesday: archive post of Book 1, Chapter 4 for all paying members

Wednesday: Near-complete chapter 4, scene 2 for "Constant" tier members and above

Thursday: another piece of Fraylim art - Cindy in the black-and-pink jumpsuit on her day out shopping with Julia.

Friday : weekly writing update, and a poll.

Have a great week, everyone!
