I dont think Su made her life with Tophs money. Of course she comes off as a bitch in the flashbacks and as an above-it-all, toxic positivity yoga mom in the present. But I think that sending her away truly did help her. I am pretty sure she built Zaofu with her own money. But I don't believe it's been totally confirmed yet. I think she's truly changed and for Lin there comes a point where she's gotta try and move forward, even if she doesn't like her sister, carrying around this grudge only hurts her. And hell I'm sure they could get along, given the opportunity, in a lot of ways they seem alike.

That "Ol' Dirty Bastard - Ol' Toph Beifong" zinger from Sean is why I subscribe to y'all

This is one of those situations where I totally understand where Lin is coming from and people have to factor in the fact that she became a cop to please Toph and that still wasn't enough. However, expecting Su to be the exact same person she was when she was a teenager is nuts. Toph and the rest of the Gaang were considered outlaws too. Toph even stole and ran scams. To this day people hate that Toph became a cop because it didn't fit her personality at all. Also Toph is from a very prominent and wealthy family. Lin is as privileged as Su.

"No wonder Tenzin ended things with you years ago" is the sickest burn since Ozai branded his son in the face

Great reaction! Just want to note we actually had two sibling fights for each of the first two seasons. Amon vs Tarrlok and Unalaq vs Tonraq

About Toph tearing up the report: It's not as simple as she's rich, she won't go to jail. here's the thing: imagine being a criminal personally enlisted to prison by the current chief of police. There's probably hundreds of those in prison, and then it turns out her own daughter shows up in jail. Imagine what they would do to Su just to take revenge on Toph. A lot of things that are much worse than the crimes she committed I'm sure.

Man, I really hope Sokka's kids are happy and well adjusted...

Su always rubs me the wrong way this episode and I never saw her quite the same after this. Her and Toph's actions always annoy me because yes Lin should not have held on to her pain for all these years since it wasn't healthy Su and Toph should have been more understanding. Lin was the one hurt the most back then, physically and emotionally, and their relationship with hwr was most fractured. However when Su and Toph made up they assumed Lin to just get over it. They invited her like it was all good and when she didn't come they blamed her when in reality they should have been like 'We hurt her very bad. Maybe WE should make the effort to visit HER and apologize and show we actually care about her'. And that's the biggest thing, they didn't apologize. You can't make amends with someone you hurt if you don't acknowledge the pain you caused them. Su was showing off all the ways she changed when all Lin wanted was proof that she actually gave a shit about her. It must also sting because Lin was always saying Su was capable of great things from the beginning, which is why she tried to stop her from doing bad things in the first place. But what I like of Su least of all was how she tried to portray her past to Korra. She tried to act like she was just a bit of a rebel and how she chose to leave to find herself and how Lin was the one responsible for the rift, neglecting all the shady stuff she did and how bad she actually was. I have no doubt that Su really has changed and has done great things, but it annoys me how she tried to change the narrative to Korra. It reminds me too much of Unalaq. I do mostly like her but a lot of her actions in Books 3 & 4 in general just seem very self-righteous and hypocritical.

yeah Su is just a lil bit manupulative with Korra & others, and the way she treats people and deals with bad situations has lead to more that a couple of problems...

Just thought I’d pop on to say young Su in the flashbacks is voiced by Tophs original voice actress! Kinda cool that she played toph as a kid and got to come back to play her daughter :)
