Coming from watching the live action it's really interesting to see how they adapted certain parts!

The anime definitely goes a lot deeper obviously

If you're confused why it says 19 that is because we watched One Pace for the first 6 episodes. We switched to the regular anime so don't worry!

gdnsx

yess perfect timing

Marlen Mendez

I was waiting for this <3

Wingsxofxfreedom

Let's gooo. Was so excited to see your reactions to seeing zoro.

Eric

Goat

hurryupmode

Animated in 1999.

KevUrb

I think 1999 this came out if im not mistaken

Wingsxofxfreedom

1999 it started airing to clear that up.

hurryupmode

Your confusion comes from how the live action compresses and creates some new situations to get more characters involved. In the anime, Nami robs Alvida's ship, and is actually at this base, looking for the map and sees that it was taken by Buggy's crew. Because that doesn't happen in the manga, One Pace cuts it out.

Minori D. Hunter

i think it’s either end of 1998 or 1999

just some random car guy

The first episode came out in 1999 while the first chapter of the manga was released in 1997 so that’s why it looks like this, As the series goes on the animation gets better and better to the point it could rival other modern anime

AyBe

dont forget that people with devil fruit powers can't swim, and we see shanks swimming in the earlier episode to save luffy

Devante Vickers

I would stop comparing the live action. Live action is meant to be condensed. Anime is better of course, but the Live Action was meant for people to come watch the anime.

Nick

netflix changed a bunch of stuff from the anime just letting yall know

Nick

and the live action is obviously goes into essentially no detail aswell

Grim

the live action rearranged and changed A LOT from the anime, Garp is in the anime 100% you just have to be patient.

Brandisimo

One pace cut out a decent amount of Zoros backstory which would’ve helped to explain why Zoro decided to go with more than 2 swords in the first place and it cut out the whole conversation with Kuina and her dad of him telling her she could never be the greatest because she’s a girl which is why she was crying when Zoro found her outside

Wingsxofxfreedom

The live action is very different they decided to introduce characters and plot points more quick to cover more ground into the 8 episodes. So everything you'll see in the anime youll recognize but it was done entirely different in the live.

Kee

The Netflix adaptation and the Manga/Anime are not the same. They changed quite a few things which you will notice as you keep watching the anime. On that note, your memory of the Netflix adaptation isn't as bad as you think. There is simply, just that many differences between the 2.

Ygjez

The live action put their own twist to the show while following key aspects of the anime. Garp been presented as (you already know) in the live action was the major spoiler for those arcs in case I watched the live action first. Garp doesn’t have a big part to play at this stage of the anime. Hopefully it explains the confusion

defnotdai

Yeah, I understand the urge to compare, but at the same time you gotta remember that with the live action, there will be differences, there will be things that are sort of left out or vaguely explored for the simple fact that the live action can't be drawn out in the same way the anime can. They gotta fit a whole arc in just a couple of episodes. The anime is 1000+ episodes, and still going I believe. So ofc the live action would have to be more condensed. After all, the entire purpose is to make viewers interested and hooked enough to watch the actual anime, not necessarily to be comparatively better or equal to it.

June The Blunt

So good! I really want them to see Nami asap jdbdjdjdjd enjoy your weekend guys!!

harinder

This anime has my heart

Florian Martin

Garp will appear way later

Bachira

There's nothing wrong with comparing the anime to the live-action, but my only warning is to not expect things to play out nearly the same way. A LOT had to be changed and shortened from the source material to fit East Blue into one Netflix season.

Charles Liu

Hey guys, don't worry about Garp. To be honest I think the live action really did his character dirty. Garp doesn't show up until later, the live action just used him as a plot device to move the story forward but it's not like that in the anime/manga at all. Also be careful of mentioning who Garp is related to because it's a spoiler technically in the anime. It doesn't get revealed until like waaaaay later, the live action just did it really early

Nick McGuire

glad u guys realized comparing it to the live action isnt the move. but i dont mind hearing the comparisons because the LA is what made u like one piece in the first place

Thunter

I’m so hyped to see when you guys get deep into the anime when all the hype and iconic moments start happening

Bryan

Garp will appears way later guys. Don’t worry. Garp doesn’t have a big role in the first saga. Oda (the author) didn’t like the idea of adding Garp in the live action but the showrunner convinced him.

Phyllis

The Live Action left out many scenes and details as compared to the anime since they had to condense 60+ episodes of info into 8 episodes. They also added and changed many scenes. The manga released in 1997 and anime in 1999. A refresher and clarification. Shanks swam in the sea to save Luffy from the sea beast. What we have learned is that if you eat a devil fruit you cannot swim and will drown in the sea. Hence, Shanks did not eat any devil fruit. Garp only appeared in the anime around 300+ episode. The Live Action introduced him right at the start of Episode 1 and throughout the show. The scene settings are quite different since they probably have a budget and filming in indoors settings is easier. In the anime, how Nami first unofficially joined Luffy is different. I do like the Live Action take on Helmeppo's hair chopped off by Zoro therefore it turned that short. That was really funny. Anyway, there will be quite a lot of differences between the anime and Live Action.

Fedei

Just a quick heads up, the episode titles will have hints of spoilers moving on so just try and avoid it like looking away or so. Always looking forward for One piece contents.

IJALS

It's only a personal opinion but I don't think the casts are required to watch the anime. They probably watched it without being required in order to portray their role better. Because how can they audition on a part they have no idea how to act out? Just a thought. :)

JMen

Watching One Pace seems like you miss out on a lot of small details.

Darksteel78

This is a spoiler but I will add into it. The family reveal is much later but not his intro. That's much earlier. Like right after RM or WP if I remember correctly.

Anonymous

You should 100% talk about and compare to the live action. That's what will make this portion of the story interesting since you already know the story. Just remember you are watching the original. The live action was good but the anime is going to present the story with way more detail and context. Can't wait.

Jboo

they did hype up zoro in the live action ?

eduardo jaimes

Im curious of how they will react when they switch to one piece and get to the episode of Luffy back story and zoros

chaosdreamer

Ron has gotten so used to watching anime that he seems to have forgotten that the live action Arlong voice he loves is actually coming from the actor and not a VA. 🤣

IJALS

The live action sped up the story so they introduced some characters earlier than in the anime. Or maybe they tried to fill in as much details in the early episodes because they can't possibly have a thousand episodes in the live action. Many were against watching the live action if you haven't watched the anime yet because it has spoilers. Garp was the spoiler. He was not introduced as who he really is until in a couple of hundreds of episodes later.

JustChris

Yeah the live action really spoiled Garps entrance since it’s so late in the anime

RorotheShadow

Please don't forget that the anime is the original, not the live action. That's why you should stop comparing these two or expecting things that happened in the live action. And also not forget that Netflix had to squeeze information and characters that are in 60+ episodes in the anime, into 8 episodes. That's why Nami hasn't shown up yet, for example. And don't worry, Garp exists, Netflix didn't create him 😂😂. But Netflix showed him way too early than it was actually in the anime. I think in the anime, he shows up around episode 300 or so And I'm really glad that you switched to the original anime, because it really annoys me how much One Pace cuts out. For example, in these episodes, things were cut out that would have shown more insight into some characters (in that case Zoro and also Kuina) And by the way, when Zoro told Kuina that she was her goal, he meant that he wanted to be as strong as her because he saw her as the strongest student. So it wasn't meant to be romantic, Michelle 😂😂

Izu

you're right; don't try to compare the LA with the anime. It's 2 completely different experiences. Even the writers of the LA adaptation have said they plan on telling the story in a more condensed way that'll make it seem way different from both the anime and the manga while keeping the stories and lore close but not completely identical.

RorotheShadow

How are they supposed to avoid the titles when the titles always appear in bold white font right in the middle of the screen?! And besides, I don't think they'll do it, since so many people before said that they should try to ignore the Naruto titles, but then after many people wrote in the comments why that isn't really necessary (because the titles are actually not real spoilers, but just hints) they decided to read the titles. So I think they'll do the same with One Piece

Fedei

Obviously the Japanese titles are shown first then the subtitles, if they want to go in blind. Besides many reaction channel usually avoid the titles, not a big deal. Also One Piece episodes titles do most of the time give away major spoilers, don't know where you are at the show but there was a certain character introduced in the titles which then later became a member after an episode if I'm not mistaken.

eduardo jaimes

Yea but they are technically dedicated episodes you know I don’t wanna give examples because of spoils

Vennom3

…you’ve watched the summary, and know you’re flipping through the pages of the book. The live action made the long story short, much like a map. We shouldn’t complain about how long the road is or the potholes within it…patients…let’s put the map down and enjoy the ride.

mamimumemo

"I thought Zoro cut his hair" Maybe Netflix team thought Helmeppo's hair is weird and nobody would have that hair on their own, so they decided to blame Zoro for it :DDD

mamimumemo

I know it's hard but you won't get the story if you keep thinking about live action, because you're gonna be confused why some scenes are different. Ofc it's different, the live action doesn't even line up with manga :/ even if you want to compare it, maybe just pause and talk about it or summarize at the end, rather than keep thinking about it while watching. Putting 100 chapters in 8 episodes, it just impossible that's why they changed many things. But I don't like how they changed Zoro's story in live action, it just doesn't make sense and I don't get why they have to change it :D

Chris Mittoo

One pace cuts out a lot of details

SomeoneElse

Haven't watched yet but yall should just quit the One Pace thing tbh. The problem is, maybe 5% of people watching these reactions have watched One Pace so it's a bit confusing. "Where's Nami?".. Well, she shows up in like all the early eps of the regular anime 🤣 There's a reason reactors typically don't do One Pace and it's to avoid complications like this Oh well I'm still digging the reactions :) you guys will get the hang of it once you fully accept the live action and anime are not 1:1. It's more like LA/Anime = 1:5 lol

Amos_san

one piece started animation Oct. 20 1999. but please remember the anime is the original go into this with a new mindset and let the key details you remember from LA surprise you when they do i promise its way more enjoyable (for you and audience) than anticipating things to happen or be the same becuase of what youve seen in the LA.

Kevin Depoppe

in the anime garp first appears after arlong park saga,

mamimumemo

I think the reason Netflix seems slower in crew building is because they changed many stories. For example Zoro didn't have a reason to call Luffy captain in Netflix because Luffy basically did almost nothing to him. But here Luffy literally helped him and he also make a promise with Luffy not to give up his dream, so he decided to follow Luffy as a crew.

aidan decristofaro

You guys explained it perfectly in the end. YOU NEED TO SCRAP THE LIVE ACTION WHEN WATCHING THE ANIME! I loved the live action but you'll end up confusing yourself trying to relate it to it too many times. The anime goes into such great detail so I can't wait for you guys to see how amazing it is!

Animeter

they only miss filler stuff. One Pace covers the manga more accurate.

Animeter

I don't care and I think they don't care either. It really doesn't matter. When people watch the episodes on their own, I think no one looks away to avoid spoilers from the title cards. Who on earth does that?

Animeter

They changed some timelines in live-action because they didn't know how many seasons they were going to make. So you shouldn't compare the LA too much. It's like an alternate universe. Some events don't take place until much later in the anime/manga.

Fedei

I mean if they don't care then that's cool, it was a suggestion. Btw when I say look away I don't mean turn your head 180 degrees just look at the top screen or so. Also yeah I'm one of those who does look away so I don't get pre notices on upcoming moves, specific battles and new characters, and I'm pretty sure I aight the only one.

SomeoneElse

Harakiri is another (possibly old fashioned) word for Seppuku

Dustin Granberry

They made a post about it last week, they're going back to the OG anime after episode 6 but they had already recorded up to ep 6 in One Pace. So next Wednesdays video should be the original anime.

101mavrik

I am really curious to know who these experts are that told them to watch one pace lol. But I am glad we are going back to the original after episode 6 cause its really throwing the story progression off and than adding on top is the live action knowledge its making even more confusion. This is a Journey you do not want to rush, its world building at the most highest level which needs to be built piece by piece and I am excited for you guys to understand it and be amazed by Oda sensei mind.

SomeoneElse

Garp is first seen sometime around episode 70. Not saying the exact number just to be less spoilery

Erin

i think comparisons are fine because you're relating it to a medium you're familiar with! but the live action isn't the definitive edition of one piece so it's going to have changes that you might not expect. this is why i think it's fine to watch it from the beginning even though you've seen LA because only the skeleton of the story is the same really, a lot of it is different 😁

Juan Jose

Yeah you guys gotta not keep comparing the anime with the live action.

Michael H

I agree with this 100%. It’s actually kind of fun seeing their confusion over the changes, as well as their decision to just take it as it is, considering that’s exactly what we all went through watching the live action.

Katsuo

Fun fact: The testosterone level in children is higher in girls than in boys. When puberty kicks in, then it becomes much higher in boys. Testosterone not only makes you more aggressive and enhances facial hair growth but also enhances muscle growth. So theoretically it's easier for little girls to grow muscles than boys. But there are also hundreds of other factors to consider.

Karaka

Nami, in the live-action became apart of their crew a bit too early. It kinda ruined this dynamic that Luffy & Zoro build with eachother as the Captain & Vice-Captain. Also, in the normal Anime (not the One Pace) she’s shown every now and then from episode 1, but still hasn’t met them yet. The One Pace just cut those parts out. It might be better that way for people who haven’t seen the Live Action and go into it completely blind but it would’ve been fun for you guys to see her since you’ve already watched the Live Action.

Jonas Teigen

Ep 19 is much better in one piece, "one pace" removed a lot. Also Nami was in ep 1 but "one pace" cut it out.

Leizel Tabura

I appreciate your time and effort in reacting to one piece which is one of the top animes out there, on top of all the animes you're reacting to. And I'm glad you watched the anime because you enjoyed the live action, but do keep in mind, the anime was out first, and they adapted it to a live action. So the live action was a compressed version of the anime. 😁 But they did an amazing job at it that you even watched the anime regardless of them having too many episodes. Looking forward to more reactions in the future and I will keep being a member until the end!😁 #SushiSquad

Saith Uchiha

All I gotta say is… No you have not seen Garp.

Saith Uchiha

I was born Nov. 9 1999 crazy I’m caught up to this only a week until my birthday!

Yoona Kim

yeah its like they''re saying that live action was better than the original

Yoona Kim

Okay, we get it you watch the live-action movie it feels like you guys are saying that the live-action was better than the original. p.s*sorry but stop comparing it to (Live action), One piece is OG.

gdnsx

#29 RND

Yoona Kim

Anyone know Zoro's Va it sounds familiar he sounds like the coach from Karasuno (Haikyuu).

Julian Dö

Please Stop Compare the live Action with the Anime. It is well made but just a Interpretation of the Anime, not more

gdnsx

the original one piece shows why zoro trusted luffy so quickly and why he called him captain so quickly too unlike one pace where it showed zoro almost immediately trusting luffy

gdnsx

thats why when u guys said why did zoro trust luffy so quickly i was hoping you guys remembered that u guys are watching one pace which cuts out a lot of small details

GeezMuhKnees

As much as I love Naruto, one piece, and bleach, my shonen favs are Hunter x Hunter, FMAB, and original Dragon Ball

Thunter

I mean that’s what they watched first so it’s only natural they’ll compare it to the anime because that’s what got them interested into the anime. It’s still too soon into the series for them to see which one they like more XD

Justin Smith

Not sure if you guys remember but in the anime it showed shanks holding luffy while both of them are in the water. If you remember from the LA, can't remember if it was stated yet in the anime, but sea robs them of their strength so if shanks had a DF power he would be in the same boat (no pun intended) as luffy and just sink into the ocean

JustChris

I’m confused, on Crunchyroll Nami is in the 1st and second episodes, did one Pace cut those scenes out??

JustChris

Where is nami? She was in the original 1st episode and the following ones

Mamox

they are naturally going to compare it, its human nature. They will outpace Arlong Park arc quickly and it'll stop - dunno why you would complain about this let them have the experience and make the comparisons they notice, you can ff through them talking about it lol

A T

Yes they did, honestly imo One Pace is disappointing and unnecessary until 500-600 eps in. Missing a whole lot of info

David

You cant compare the backstories or any details of the Live Action to the original show, OF COURSE the Live Action will leave a lot of things out. They had to make 8 episodes out of MULTIPLE ARCs worth of content from the original anime. If anything, you should praise how much the Live action was able to capture in the short run that it had.

C Nichole

Imma need someone to tell Ron his name is Mihawk not Hawkeye 🤣

Anonymous

Y'all ain't gonna see Garp this year lmao

Harsh Sharma

Michelle just want to clarify that Zoro did ask for Kuina's sword in Live action as well, it was not handed to him. They covered every detail in the anime in the live action as well other than revealing her cause of death. This is after the fact that they covered almost 3-4 arcs within 8 episodes, and they did a really good job with it. Also, Ron you are right about Nami being there with Luffy when he helped Zoro escape in live action. She was pretending to be a Navy soldier looking for the map to Grand Line. But honestly you both have good memory, you retain so much info on all the different animes you are watching, that's commendable! And one final thing, I love your idea to just enjoying both live action and anime independently. They are both great in their own way. :)

luquzii

stop bitching obviously they are gonna compare whats different between the two when they know how the story kinda ends up, and how are they implying that the live-action was better than the og when they arent even 5 eps in

H. R_yhvn

One pace quite weird, the fight so fast. cuts a lot of things.

Karaage

My Top 3 was: Slam Dunk, Demon Slayers, Jujutsu Kaisen; after watching One Piece, My Top 3 now is: One Piece, One Piece, One Piece 😄✌️

H. R_yhvn

Cant force them watch one piece instead of one pace because they seems so in love with the live actions. short short action

Michael DeArmas

This is a small nitpick but the translation keeps using the word "Daddy" when Helmeppo calls his dad "Oyaji" which is much closer to calling him "old man" instead of "Daddy". Also it's only natural that you compare the LA action to this since that's your only point of reference. People need to relax on telling you to stop comparing them, like, if anything I'm interested in hearing your comparisons since you watched the LA first.

Michael DeArmas

Just one thing I want to point out about Shanks since you guys are wondering if he has a fruit power. An important clue that isn't apparent in the Live Action is that Shanks was swimming in the water when he saved Luffy. Thus at least at that point in time he had NO fruit power definitively.

Bryan

No. Nami isn’t in the first arc in the manga. We see her until Buggy’s arc. The original anime introduce her character in episode 1 but one pace tries to be more accurate to the manga so they cut her scenes.

SXD

I think it is better to watch One Pace tbh, the pacing in the original anime is horrendous

Overbyte

I was about to point this out they showed it in the first 2 eps they watched (last upload)

BountyHunter _XV

so cool watching one piece with you guys , I never watched it before but i'm glad i get to experience it through you guys :)

Nami gets cut out in one pace

Ron who is Hawkeye? You mean mihawk lol?

Karaka

Hawkeye is his nickname tho. Cuz he has literal eyes like Hawks. Shanks even calls him Hawkeye in the live action

C Nichole

Omg here comes the weebs trynna give unnecessary feedback 🤣 I am laughing for a reason.....find the humor and scroll on please

Vincent Baierl

Overall its not that bad, sure there are some slow parts but for first time watchers 100% acceptable

Mark

That's cap. I've tried watching mid piece 4 times from the beginning. And I can never get past arlongs park without losing all interest. I only know how arlongs park ends because of the live action. My 5th try watching, I skipped past arlongs park, and didn't even make past 2 episodes. It's boring and very slow, and the fights really suck tbh. I've never watched one pace. But for first time watchers, one piece pacing is not "100% acceptable". From what I've heard, there's hundreds just like me who can't get into one piece no matter how many times we try 🤷 the live action is fucking awesome tho tbh. Can't wait for the live action to catch up to the anime, if it ever does. So I can't like one piece, without actually forcing myself through the boring ass anime

Marcus

They literally address that in the ending, did you not watch the whole vid first?😂

Marcus

Yeah he’s in a bunch of anime but he isn’t in Hakiyu, on the top of my head he is Aomine’s captain in Kuroko’s bastketball.

Mario Garcia

Yea garp was a Netflix original character

Phyllis

Zoro VA is not in Haikyu. He did voice Captain Obi in Fire Force and Laplace in Slime.

Phyllis

I see~ I barely remember haha~ I only remember when that important info dropped in Post EL arc in the entire crews face. XD

mamimumemo

Zoro's VA is one of the legends, Nakai Kazuya 💓 Another his character that I like is Hijikata Toshiro from Gintama 🧚

SomeoneElse

It's literally fine lmao. The pacing only gets rough around 600 episodes in and at that point its best to use One Pace. Sick of Tiktok attention spans spreading this bs rhetoric

SomeoneElse

Dracule "Hawkeye" Mihawk. "Hawkeye" is his pirate name, like Straw Hat is Luffy's

keandre deas

Garp is from the anime not a Netflix original character he just shows up later on

Akmal M

This is my first time watching One Pace. I understand the reasons behind watching it but it kinda loses abit of the charm and humour of the anime for me. I loved that we got glimpses of Nami from episode 1 of the anime. I always laugh when she kicks that pirate in the nuts

tsuyuri

I am very pleased to see your reaction to the anime version of ONE PIECE! It is one of my favourite works! What tends to happen with Japanese feature-length anime is that when the speed of the anime catches up with the speed of the original manga, the original anime story is created and adjusted. As a result, the flow of the story may change abruptly or the story may not progress because of all the recollections. Also, if the animation director and other staff members change, the content of the animation will also change, which may feel strange. Nevertheless, the story is still worth watching! Enjoy it at your own pace!

SXD

lmao, it is not about having no attention span, I got no issue watching a long ass anime IF the eps are actually interesting, but in OP's case, it is not the case most of the time. They LOVEEEE to stretch things out in their eps and when ppl say OP has no filler I laugh and say, the canon eps ARE the filler, lmao.

kirk poss

The anime is going to be way more detailed. The live action has a lot to cover in a season so you will get all the holes filled in the anime.

Keru

Remember that the live action is “supposed” to be like the anime. You guys kept saying how Nami is “supposed” to show up, as well as Garp. But that would imply that the anime is “supposed” to be like the live action. Which isn’t true. Live action had to speed some things up because they only had 12 episodes 😭

Firewolf

ONE PIECE!!

Justin Moore

So One Pace doesnt show the marine tell the girl to tuck in. That scene kinda showed that the soldiers were just following orders and werent bad people just following bad leadership.

Justin Moore

One Pace cuts some context scenes out. Just from watch with them there was already a few scenes that I recognized they cut. The original series 100% isn't worse than narutos and in most cases I prefer One Pieces.

SXD

@ Damien Nowak "because you are dumb" stfu OP meatrider

SXD

@ Justin Moore I'm sure the "context" they cut out is not that important, if that was the case nobody would watch that. Also, I did not even mention Naruto but since you did, Naruto fillers are at least fun to watch while most of OP fillers[drawn-out scenes in the canon eps ] are boring/drawn out for no reason while each ep only lasts around 12 minutes.

Lu Bu

U bat sh$t crazy to take this on in 2023 LOL

Ricardo Fierro

yeah so for the voice is the same as captain Obi from fire force, but i not commented that on those videos cause well, kinda spoiler haha, and yeah on the LA nami was with them already when are at the marine base, but in anime she appears after, as well as meeting garp, all the crew reunited is very very quick in the LA cause well, there are only 8 eps and have to accelerate things. to resume 40 or so eps till reach the arlong arc

Danny Danh

Not sure if this is a spoiler BUT SPOILER WARNING Spoiler********* I believe some of the cast were casted in the live action were casted based off timeskip versions in the anime. So some of the characters may look or act differently.

Michael H

I would be shocked if they didn’t think the live action was better at this point in the series. It’s comparing a $150 million modern production to the first few episodes of a 25 year old long-running anime. Give them time to get into it, experience the differences, and discover just how amazing the series is.

Stephen Cruz

I’ll get stronger, stronger than she ever was strong enough that my name will reach the heavens will always be my favorite line from Zoro dub

Ricky Castro

It's worth watching Zoro's back story without One Pace. They left out A LOT of context around Kuina's feelings about boys vs girls and her death. One Pace doesn't seem to cover much more than the Live Action.

LUÍS FERNANDO GOIS LOBÃO

one pace is so weird. it removes the charm of the anime. And these subtitles are ass too.

Goon

Thank God you guys switch to the original, never watched One Pace buts it's terrible - the pacing is so rushed 😭😭

Theo Traumato

you mean normal. OG anime has snailpace although it is not as bad in the beginning as later on. Some later episodes cover HALVE manga chapter, its ridicilous. Normal pace is 3-4 manga chapters for shonen.

Qbie_1

Can’t wait for episode 4854
