Let's go, can you both after you fully finish season 2 give a full review what you understood and did your confusion in these episodes get explained. Just interested to hear your thoughts for this mystery show, it's not easy for anybody first time seeing it =)

Beatrice is staying there because of a contract, which basically tells her to wait for a specific person. Thats not a spoiler,its what already have been told in the story. But why its subaru is not known.

In episode 8, before trying to escape from the Sanctuary, Roswaal only tells Subaru that she has contract, a question, and an answer. More than that can be confusing or kinda spoilery I think.

Thank you. That's kinda what I thought. OP mentioned more than they probably should have. Fortunately, it's all information that gets revealed next episode (which I'm guessing Rice & Ginger have seen by now).

She is contracted to never leave that place. She thinks Subaru will be the one to set her free. To be "that person" (What Roswaal told Subaru to tell her). Im pretty sure she only called it ironic because their relationship is mostly just being obnoxious frenemies to each other.

You could put it together with the two pieces of information Roswaal gave Subaru, but it is not fully laid out until the future episode. So technically, that would have been a spoiler, yeah.
