Tengen was born into a family of nine children within a shinobi clan. Three of the nine children died before they even reached 10 years old due to overzealous training. With the remaining six of his siblings, they were forced to kill each other on their father’s orders without them knowing who they fought, as their heads and faces were covered with masks. Tengen realized his father's trick only after he had killed two of his brothers. By the age of 15, seven of his siblings had already died leaving only him and his younger brother who is two years younger.

Muichiro soloed upper 5 because of unlocking the demon slayer mark just as how tanjiro was able to overpower the 4 other emotion demons after he also unlocked his demon slayer mark but also note how they struggled without the mark. That’s how much boost the mark gives to a demon slayer, if tengen unlocked the mark when fighting gyutaro he would’ve easily won the fight too. But even so muichiro has a lot of potential to become the most powerful in the future but for now gyomei and sanemi ( the 2 most powerful hashiras )are still leagues above him. You can also note the similarities between sanemi and muichiro they both managed to kill a demon at 11 years old without a nichirin sword or any demon slayer experience

Tengen left his clan bc his father covered their heads and made them fight to the death. He killed his siblings before he caught on to what was happening. He got out and ran into the master and basically found something worth while to do and ig fight for. A better question would be why didn't we see that on Tengen.. answer, too OP 🙃 but on a serious note, even from the way they animated it, I feel gyutaro claps UM5 lol

youre spot on, think about it. Muichuro had become a Hashira in TWO months, Muichiro still had his brother Alive when we saw Tanjiro initially starting his training with Urokodaki. Imagine if he was a sun breathing welder since he is a descendant to Yoriichi.

I feel the same way I fear we might lose someone during this fight. This is so wrong lol but I kind of hope it’s the guy with the gun and not m one of the hashira. I just love muichuro so much and I want to see more of Mitsuri. Either way knowing me if we do lose anyone I’m crying a bucket 😭.

Upper 6 had a different fighting style than Upper 5, prob that made him look stronger, and also Musan mentioned in season 2 that Gyutaro could be way stronger to probably outrank Upper 5 but Daki was holding him back. btw Tokito is OP!!! I'm not surprised that he defeated the upper 5 with the marks on his face, the same marks that made tanjiro able to cut Gyutaros head.

Muichiro is the fourth strongest of the hashira and the mark that he had enhanced his strength and attacks meanwhile tengen is around the 7 strongest (maybe 8) hashiras and he also didn’t get the mark that muichiro had that’s the reason why he struggled more than muichiro did

Muzan stated Daki was Gyutaro's weakness, and personally i think he couldve been upper 5. Either way Muichiro would've clapped them both, his marked form is next level. Upper moon 4 is SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than upper 5 so I'm excited to see how they battle him

It's not stressed at all in the anime but the Demon Slayer Mark is actually a really huge deal. To put it into perspective, After Tanjiro gained access to the mark, he went from struggling to cut Gyutaro's neck to slicing clean through - he was just a low ranked Demon Slayer at the time. So imagine a Hashira unlocking the Mark. It increases your speed and strength exponentially. Muichiro is a prodigy as mentioned several times, but the reason he killed Gyokko so easily was thanks to the Mark Tengen left his shinobi life because it was too cruel for him. The anime said that his siblings had all died except his brother, but in the manga it's further explained that his father had them unknowingly fight and kill each other because he only wanted the strongest offspring. Once Tengen learned of his, he left his clan

You never saw other hashira in a one sided fight with gyutaro because tenzo never had the mark and fought with gyutaro almost evenly. If Tenzo had the mark activate, he would've leveled gyutaro just like Muichiro did. Same with Rengoku.

I disagree about Rengoku, Akaza was toying with him. He held back all along the fight because he wanted to turn Rengoku. With the mark, Rengoku would have had a better fight for sure, maybe holding the demon until the sun come up but Akaza would still have killed him at the end.

No. Tanjiro’s dad seems to not have link to anyone. Just a coincidence that the Kamado Bloodline to had the same hair/eyes colours as the descendants of the Original Sun Breathing. And last I checked Yoriichi said he didn’t have any heirs in the anime therefore he can’t be the ancestor to Tanjiro or the Kamado Family

Pretty much all demon slayers came to the demon slayer corps because they lost someone important to demons (like Tanjiro, Muichiro, Genya and his brother). But there are definitely some who also become demon slayers because of their family (like Rengoku) Just at the end of the video it kinda sounded like you guys would believe that all you have to do is suffer a very bad loss and then you become a Hashira straight away, so I want to reiterate that any demon slayer can, theoretically become a Hashira, not only those with special abilities. In order to become a Hashira, you just have to train a lot and, above all, have killed a lot of strong demons. (and you need a breathing technique, of course) It was sort of explained in the first season. Also, Tengen used to be a shinobi and became a Demon Slayer after losing his entire family (I don't think it was ever explained exactly how he lost his family, and if it was, I don't remember it unfortunately). He joined the demon slayer corps because the leader of the demon slayers gave him a new life purpose. But the point is, Tengen became a Demon Slayer, not a Hashira straight away, just like Muichiro was a regular Demon Slayer before working his way up to be a Hashira (within two months!). I think that's something that a lot of people misunderstand. Muichiro became a Hashira in two months, not a Demon Slayer (so he managed to become a Hashira after two months as a normal Demon Slayer) This is also why Tengen has so much respect for Muichiro as well, because he's so talented By the way, Rengoku's mother died from an illness and not from a demon

Gyokko was used to demonstrate how much stronger a Demon Slayer can get after they get their mark. Upper Five was not weak by any means, but a mark just makes a slayer that much stronger.

There a lot comments explaining the same thing so I thought I would add this since the anime skipped this part in the manga that explained how muichiro’s mist breathing 7th form works and that is the reason gyokko got defeated "Tokitou drastically changes the tempo of his movements to disorient his enemy. When he shows himself, he's as slow as a turtle. But when he hides, he moves in the blink of an eye. His fastest speed (with mark) exceeds that of Upper Moon Five Gyokko's. A wounded Muichiro had just managed to defeat an Upper Moon. Gyokko is right. This is a really unnatural situation". Btw there might some things that aren't showed/explained in the anime since the DS manga has a narrator that explains some things that the charactes don't say 😁👍

I think another thing to consider is that Gyokko was arrogant and underestimated Muichiro and ability of a human in general. But yeah getting the mark is a huge power up, before the mark he was struggling against Gyokko.

It was said Tengen's father forced them to undergo harsh and intensive training which led to the death of some of the siblings. In the manga, it is further explained that the father made the remaining siblings fight each other to death while being blindfolded so they dont know who they are fighting. Only 2 siblings including Tengen survived.

Even though Muichiro became a hashira in a few months at this point he has been fighting for months/years so he is plenty experienced. Michelle kept repeating “2 months” but he has trained for more than those initial few months. Just so you dont think he is this strong with only 2 months of training. He was 11 when his brother died and is 14 at this point.

I kinda agree too. I've read the manga, and IMO the swordsmith village arc is one of the weakest arcs of Demon Slayer. But that's also partially due to the fact that I find these 2 upper moons uninteresting, so they don't hold much of my attention.

The only thing we know is that Muzan really liked Gyutaro so it is suggestive that he had more potential than upper moon 4&5. While Gyokko seemed underwhelming, his final form is likely strong enough to beat Gyutaro in an Upper Moon Challenge.

This episode was epic! Ufotable did an amazing job with Muichiro’s mist breathing. The guy was a beast, I can see him becoming a hashira in 2 months! Mitsuri showing up and telling Tanjiro ‘leave the rest to me’ was so reminiscent of what Giyu said when he showed up in season 1. Great response!

This episode was fire flames!!! i was in shock at first too just waiting for gyokko to appear again. I think this was a showcase of Muichiros power having his memories back, awakened his mark, and being a decendant of yorichi. So far hes the stongest we have seen and Gyokko underestimated him because he was a kid, he was too cocky and was dealt with quick!!!!!!

we don't know what is this 'mark' showed up in face of tanjiro and muichiro, but by the fact that when mark came up tanjiro become able to slay gyutaro's neck and muichiro mentioned after mark showed up he feeling strangely good condition, and upper demon said this mark is similar to demon's mark, i think when mark has shown, that human maybe able to get demonic power. doesn't know what is need to have the mark but tengen and rengoku didn't show the mark.

also cosider that when muichiro didn't have the mark he most likely end up dead in the bubble, but his choice to save the boy instead going to vill' to protect tetchin(head swordsmith) become saving his own life by boy's breath through the bubble, exactly like what tanjiro said to him.

Compared to Daki and Gyutaro these upper moons kinda seemed weak IMO. Upper Moon 4 was kinda interesting, but 5 was kinda whatever to me.

re watching cuz.. why not haha anyways that part on the previous episode that they are descendants from the first breathers and yall saying that tanjiro can be related to him somehow? if the wife of the master went to find them because of that and if tanjiro is from the same family don’t u think that masters wife would of visited tanjiros family as well? 😳 idk maybe it’s just me but i always looks at little details like that. so that should answer the question that tanjiros and tokito are related or not..
