i love thorfin's character development and i understand the message that the writer wanted to show is peace, but i feel like thorfin's idealism "i have no enemies" right now is just too unrealistic for that era, even though i know it's a fictional story but still there's a lot of real history inside the story ~ that's just my opinion, idealism is often unrealistic

I think anytime in civilized history you can find some pacifists, so not unrealistic imo. His character being a bit naive I would agree wiht but it makes sense with how his life has been. They have even showed it when he found that his never using violence again doesnt always work.

There are many instances throughout history of pacifism in the face of insurmountable violence and war. One that comes to mind is Ngo Dinh Diem; also Desmond T. Doss. I feel like people really expected this anime to be entirely like season 1 and are continually being upset by Thorfinn’s character arc.

it's understandable bcs we (anime watcher only) spend time with season 1 thorfin for a whole season while usually a prologue/flashback only happen for like a couple episodes
