Actually, Clark Kent's transformation into Superman, or rather the other way around, isn't as obvious as just simly taking off his glasses. He slouches, makes himself purposefully look less buff, and he has a completely demeanor about him.

The head crushing of Red Rush gets so much worse when you remember what he *said* to his lady just before that. He processes things as fast as he moves, so things that we see as being fast are painfully slow even to him, a normal conversation feels like *hours* to him. And that head crushing took... awhile. Only really slow death.

So the creator of the Invincible comic used to work at DC, and this was kind of a critique/parody of the Justice League I believe.... so all the similarities you see are very much on purpose
