Time has passed at least two to three months during this episode, so they had time to grow a goatee. It was summer when they ate dinner at Sverkel's home. Wheat seeds were sowed in the fall as Einar said. You can also tell the time passing if you look at their clothing. They were wearing only the tunic on top during summer, but they were wearing a shirt underneath it at the end of the episode. This episode was touching, especially Thorfinn's smile at the end. He hadn't smiled since the age of six (except for smirking)

It’s actually not all of sudden with the facial hair and stuff. There’s been about two time skips now from last episode and this one that’s how they showing it. During canout episode I believe there was a two years skip obvs times goes on for thorfinn as well 😂
