What i love the most about this show is the choices it give us, and with each and every one I asked myself what would i do in that situation. in this story you will begin to like the characters you hate and hate the ones you like over and over again simply by watching them making difficult decisions.

What do longterm fans of the show think is the pivoting point where generally everybody gets into it? I've tried watching the show after it got shilled hardcore during the poll, and I'm at episode 9 currently, but I just don't like it. Am I past the episode where generally everybody is into it? It might just not be for me.

Season 2 might be the tipping point for you then. It’s going to be much different from s1, dont wanna say more for fear of spoilers but the manga is awesome, maybe just read s1 manga until season 2 drops so its less of a time commitment

I wasnt huge on it until the 2nd half of season 1. IMO the season gets way better as it progresses. In the beginning i didnt think it was anything special

The show is pretty good, idk if it gets much better but its still worth a watch tho. In my opinion its a little overhyped maybe. Im still gonna watch s2 will see if its better, since a lot of people saying it is.

Askeladd was dead serious when he asked to follow Thor. He was lamenting the whole situation afterwards but just laughing it off.

He was definitely serious when he asked Thors to be the leader. And I really do think he wanted to follow the rules of the duel. His hand was forced because of his position as the leader of his crew. Plus, Thors letting him live was smart imo. The leader ordering his men to withdraw was possible. If he just straight killed him, they would have all just retaliated and Thors would not have been able to protect everyone.

Both Thors and Askeladd are strong/experience warriors. Thors would have been a great leader but he would have to leave everything he had behind (escaping again) and Askeladd didn’t break any rules. (Letting thors crew escape) Both of them understood that Thor had to die no matter the outcome because if Askeladd didn’t kill him. Floki would kill everyone that Thor loved.
