From what I heard this is actually a split season anime so it's a 24 episode season with a break in the middle and right now it's doing the break and coming back for the second half in .... October? That's why episode 12 may not be as dramatic as you may expect. It gained a whole lot of recognition while it was still a manga that it normally wouldn't get until it was turned into an anime. Keep in mind while watching the show. Anya is pretending to be 6 but she's 4, so she's essentially a genius trying to skip 2 grades and that's why she struggles. It's easy to forget though so you may have to keep reminding yourselves.

her age is never once stated. Loid simply says she's small and LOOKS 4 or 5. We still have no confirmation on her age so 6 is assumed

I don't think anyone (in the audience) believes she's 6. It's not just her size. It's her overall look, plus the immaturity of her thoughts. It would also explain a lot of her difficulty academically. A 4/5 year old has far less tolerance for sitting and studying than a 6 year old (even they have little enough of that).

Why are we forgetting the scene in the enrollment test where hardly any 6yo understood the test or hadn't studied? Besides her size there's nothing to imply she isn't 6. All the other children are shown to act very similarly, especially Becky who thought Anya was grown up just because she smirked at Damien.

Bro Waver that's how stories work; They don't just randomly say things. Information given in a story is meant to be interpreted in a certain way. In this case Twilight believed her to be 4-5 years old. We as the audience can then infer that Anya lied to get out of her situation, which also starts to build her character.
