Otter Eddy

Jess

George Rosales

fun fact, i cried 8 times watching this movie 😭🫶🏼

Sam F

Yesssss cant wait to cry to the movie for the 73rd time

Sam F

Little sad fact about this movie and the studio kyoto animation, they actually got attacked by a derenged person that accused them of stealing his script and he burned their building down and unfortunately killed 36 people

TheFlowey27

wow i cant wait to sob my eyes out yo this movie yet again

Charlie Day

Subscribed just for this and as the previous people said, this movie is even sadder because the history behind the violence targeted towards the studio. Proof that evil can happen anywhere, but this masterpiece of a movie is a legacy

Andy

I will save this reaction for my dinner side dish tonight, yum yum

Vyn

💔😭😭😭😭

Baduizm

Lmao I have a friend like Ron. They're a mastermind with theories, where I kinda just go with the flow I'm clueless. They're almost always right though (almost) 😂

Baduizm

In my experience movies tend to explore different themes, more introspective. There are absolutely some epic anime movies, but the longer shows/shonens have longer to setup rivalries & stories to pay off big hype moments

Reuben Filimaua

A fantastic story about communication, understanding each other and having empathy in general. Using the topics of bullying, depression, suicide, anxiety etc. The teacher didn't intervene until it directly affected himself when the principal had to come to their classroom. That's a common theme within the whole cast of characters. Not able to understand the other.. until it actually affects yourself. Ishida wouldn't have learnt his lesson or changed as a person if he wasn't ostracized and realized what Shoko was going thru. At the same time it all could've gone alot differently. The kids would've learnt to understand Shoko if someone actually DID SOMETHING. Communicate. Anyway, cool reaction! Look forward to more.

Sumire

Actually Shouko's voice actor and Shinobu's is the same person~ She visited deaf person (after she got this role) to made her acting more realistic

Vyn

Your name next!!!

Joise Cepeda

Just woke up right now, so excited to see you guys react to this movie ❤️❤️

Maz Ibrahim

i’m not crying you’re crying 😢😪

Jess

during the first time when ueno offered to help nishimiya with her notes, the teacher was explaining about the fulcrum, that supports the lever when pressure is applied. I wonder if that was foreshadowing to how ueno was subconsciously placing too much pressure on herself. This ended up causing her to distance herself from nishimiya after realizing that she wasn't able to constantly "support" nishimiya in class without getting her grades affected.

This movie is so well done. It touches on aspects of life that are important to really understand, because you really never know what anyone has gone through. Personally this movie resonated with me a lot as I'm dealing with anxiety- it really depicts an inside view in the mind of a person with anxiety, even without any words. Anyway, love your reactions! Can't wait to see what you're watching next <33

Jess

the literal translation of the title is "the shape of voice", which I feel is the more correct title translation

Jess

Yes omg its so true! Had the teacher intervened early, Ishida might not get ostracized by the other students for what was done to shoko. Which in turn, would prevent the development of his character to be more empathetic to others.

I believe that most fight movie doesn’t come alone. it usually goes between seasons just like how demon slayer movie works

Zongo

that was great ,honestly i would've never watched this before alone im glad you guys did it enjoyed this moment . thanks . i Might also go and watch Your name now lol.

BigLouMF

I've watched this movie so many times and I still cry every single time. I relate so much to how the main character would block everyone out due to his anxiety and I loved how they used the X's to show that he was doing that. The movie is absolutely beautiful.

Aliyah Gray

Movie really touch bases on self acceptance holding yourself accountable and self healing. Ishida and other members of the class bullied Nishimiya in there own way. But when confronted they put all the blame on him. And then he started getting bullied and he realize how it felt and in turn excepted all the blame and held that guilt and had self hatred for what he had done. When they were all on the bridge she finally called them out on their crap. Tell them they can’t keep just blaming him when they all play a part. The one girl instead of saying something transfer to another school. The other girl cared about self image and didn’t want anyone to see that she was associate with a bully she also didn’t speak out or tell anyone. Nishimiya felt that her disability was a burden on everyone and she was the reason everyone wasn’t happy and that they would be fine if she was gone.

Joise Cepeda

I saw somewhere in a YouTube comment that the character they hated the most was actually Kawai , who was the “nice one” out of the bully group. They described her as the worst among them. She watched Shoko get bullied and did absolutely nothing and played the victim when Ishida called her out. A small hint during the choir part was Kawai opening her mouth tricking Shoko into thinking that they were gonna start and then when she obviously was ahead Kawai was like “oh no Shoko , you went ahead” when she was the reason. Theres a whole Reddit page on why people absolutely despise her 🤣🤣

Ty

The movie title translated would be The Shape of Voice. A Silent Voice just sounds better as a Title for us English speakers. I personally like The Shape of Voice as it ties into the theme of communication a bit better

Fuuwa

Oof so many important topics and emotions, this was definetely awesome in so many ways! I was hoping for them to date or a kiss at least but I guess this movie wasn't about romantic love but to love and respect others and also ourselves. P.S: I just saw my name in the credits yaaaasss :D

Gavin Daniels

This is my all time favorite anime movie and I’m so glad I got to see you guys react to it. I think everyone could relate to at least someone from this movie in some shape or way and that’s what I love about this movie. I will say I read the manga for it afterwards and realize they cut a lot of really important moments, dialogue and characterization in order to fit it into a movie format. If you guys want to get the full story I would definitely recommend reading the actual story. It also touches a little more on the romance between shoya and shoko as well if you were craving more of that aspect. Again an amazing reaction and can’t wait to see you guys check out more movies!

mar

off topic but this is the first time i've seen michelle's hair up, looks super cute girl !!

this guy

Yo, Ron. I U G L Y cried at the end of DS season 2, so DONT HOLD BACK 😁 And If you want another show to watch like this one(it's 11 episodes) it's called Anohana. It's beautiful as well 😍

Soul

While i relate to this film so much because i suffer from clinical depression and anxiety (diagnosed), I really love Your Name better as a film even though its a bit more difficult to follow the first time watching.

Killua X

so a lot of ppl reference this anime for learning about the 'i like/love you' vs 'the moon is beautiful, isn't it?' thing. moon is 'tsuki' and love/like is 'suki'. this isn't the first anime to use it but its a common thing i've learned. basically, if someone uses 'suki' to say i like/love you, and the person replies using 'tsuki' (e.g. the moon is beautiful, isn't it?) they are saying i love you back but being shy or sly about it.

cloudzi

i just wanted to point out near the start yall had a convo about school going 1-6 and then high school, we do this in most places in the UK aswell so im just taking a shot in the dark, that some places in japan do the same ?

Killua X

On another note, i think i missed the initial vote for the first movie. Was Akira ever mentioned as an option? If not, then it's practically a no-brainer. For surely, everyone who can say they watch anime must watch Akira, amirite?

Faraz

we want KIMI NO NA WA movie next!!! please...

LifeisRich

should definitely watch "I want to eat your pancreas" next after "your name"

Nani Campos

This movie never fail to make cry, no matter how many times i watch it!! One of the most beautilful movies ever!

Karma

Once you catch up with MHA you could watch the movies are hype asf!

Paulo

I never seen this movie before it was amazing, I cried so much.

Marcus

I watched this yesterday for the first time just to know what to expect and you guys actually picked up details that i missed

yui tanaka

Hello Ron Niki, Michelle neki. This is my first comment. I've been watching you for two months. Your reaction is so much fun i like you very much. I also love Demon slayer, so I was happy to enjoy it together. And thank you for uploading "A Silent Voice" this time. I love the Kyoto animation that made this movie. Among them, I love the anime "violet evergaden" I really want you to see it. I am a 32 year old Japanese woman. I have a 2-year-old son. Like Demon slayer, it's an anime that I want to show to my grown-up children. I will not explain in detail. But this anime is famous in Japan. Emotional, beautiful animation and music. Watch the growth of the main character girl.

yui tanaka

sorry, niki and neki are Japanese internet slang. Honorific titles such as "Mr." and "Ms.".

Timbeaux

Just upgraded today and watched this and Michelle, I LOVE KOMI CAN'T COMMUNICATE

Jacob Christoffersson

They don’t really show it in the movie and it’s more talked about in the manga but Kawai actually makes it look like she’s about to start singing on purpose just so that she can seem nice by telling Shoko that she’s starting too early. She’s a really calculated evil b**** in the beginning.

Rhys Harp

its intresting on the second watch that i noticed that when they jumped into the river to get the notepad that he tried to catch her hand and he didnt catch her, then later he catches her when it mattered. And it also showed that she couldnt swim and he yelled out when going to help her. Showing that later on when she was going to jump from her appartment that she wouldnt have been able to swim

Lost

The writer also writes a series called To Your Eternity Id love to see a reaction to at least the first episode I personally like it more than a silent voice.

Tony Imenjak

no, the symbolism is that he ripped her hearing aids out, so she ripped his mom ear piercings off

Tony Imenjak

sorry for commenting without watching your whole commentary though, the thing is

Tony Imenjak

its impssoble to fully interpret this movie if uve never been generally depressed

Tony Imenjak

he knew how to go there in the end because they fed the fish together

keniskandar

I’m 25 years old, and consider myself to still be in childhood; and I think people should watch this movie during childhood as well!
