Let's gooooo! Tanjiro is now officially a demon slayer and is now on to his first mission!! We were a little confused about the origin of the Hand Demon and his purpose in the Final Selection, but I think I (Michelle) knew what I was talking about haha. What do you y'all think?

The hand demon was captured by a young Sakonji Urokodaki and brought to the wisteria mountain and imprisoned there for the purpose of being used for the final selection test to become a demon slayer. The idea is that the Demon Slayer Corps sometimes captures weak low level demons and imprisons them on a mountain where the base is completely covered in wisteria which is a plant that repels demons and is used to make poisons that can incapacitate and even kill demons. So these demons are trapped on this mountain and the demon slayers send recruits like tanjiro to this mountain and if they can survive on the mountain past the wisteria barrier for 7 days then they are officially accepted into the corps. Most demons that are brought to the wisteria mountain don’t survive long because other then when the final selection test is taking place they have no access to human flesh to eat or they are killed by promising young demon slayers like Tanjiro. The hand demon however was crafty and managed to survive and get pretty strong by consuming prospect demon slayers like Tanjiro’s fellow Urokodaki students Sabito and Makomo. A lot of young demon slayer prospects die during final selection but if they can’t survive final selection than they probably wouldn’t survive very long being a demon slayer. Being a demon slayer has an extremely high death rate. Most die before ever even reaching their full potential.
