Only thing that puts people off in this, is the fan service. The story is amazing and the concept of cooking battles is even better and both those things overshadow the fan service, in my opinion. I even learned how to cook cuz of this Anime 🤣

I’m with you on the underage aspect, Ron. That’s always bothered me with anime, and unfortunately it is so prevalent in the medium. But even though that is very much the case in this show, it actually doesn’t bother me as much as I thought it would just because it is so deliberately over-the-top, comedic, and ultimately just a metaphor for how the food tastes. Still can be difficult to get past, though.

if you read this, the recipe for the food is at the back of the manga of this anime, so i believe most of the food made on the show can exist in real life and some react channels do get chefs to recreate the dishes in the show in real life. i do recommend eating while watching this show because despite the ecchi elements, it's really not that bad of a show! enjoy the ride!

I have too many things to say about my criticism of this show, that probably no one cares about LOL. So I'll just say that, I believe you are pretty much spot on about the fan service. I do believe that the show would be better without the fan service, or at least appeal to a larger audience. However to that, I say : "A product for everybody is a product for nobody." Therefore, I think Food Wars is fine the way it is. -From a "non-fan" of Food Wars.

You can have criticism for any show, manga & anime. The greatest stuff out there can even be criticised to a certain degree. But the thing is with Food Wars, it’s still worth watching and is a very entertaining anime. From the story, romance & characters, I enjoyed everything about it except the over the top & repetitive fan service

Yes these are 15 year olds, remember its from 2015 Japan when the age of consent there was 13!😲and this came out at a time when every anime was in high school, shows like High School DxD, Prison School, The Testament of Sister New Devil, etc. after Japan raised their age of consent to 16 you dont get shows like these anymore thats why everything is a isekai now and honestly good because now watching this 10 years later is uncomfortable AF like i want to laugh but at the same time these are 15 year olds being sexualized smh but i wont judge anyone who enjoys its a form of art but im good on this one honestly.

There are some shows that contain quite a bit of what is known as "anime bullshit". Excessive tropes, stock characters, power of friendship, fan service, pervertedness, inappropriateness, etc etc. Ultimately, it's up to the viewer to decide how much anime bullshit they wanna put up with to get to the parts they enjoy. Food Wars has buckets of anime bullshit, but beyond that it's still pretty fun, until the last few seasons imo.

If you liked My Happy Marriage - I think you’ll like My Dress Up Darling. They’re not related at all - but they’re both romance and have some feel good moments. I would say you’d have to have an open mind with MDUD though, since they’re teenagers. The same way Food Wars is lol. Except not that constantly inappropriate. Side note: I hope y’all recreate some of the dishes you really see on the show.

Dang, this show is pretty funny and the food always looks good, but i'm sad black clover lost even though it had 500+ more votes even if you add together the votes from the two polls for shokugeki no soma. I guess i'll stick to naruto and occasionally drop into these. BTW they are high school students and the expression of the food flavors and stuff happens to the students too sometimes, im pretty sure if i am remembering correctly.

My opinion as someone with kids and understanding the age of consent in Japan is young and at the time of this was 13 and how OVERLY SEXUALISED this show is with teens AKA kids it’s just way too much for me. I won’t hate on it if yall watch it just not something I’m going to consume. Just way too weird for me.

I enjoyed the Food Wars manga up until the ending. As for the picking shoes controversy, I think for your own sanity it would be good to have X amount of slots that you pick because you want to try it, and X amount of slots that are purely based on user votes (pulled from the highest requested in the Discord suggestions).

this isn't completely accurate, the national age of consent was 13 because every prefecture had it's own laws raising it to 16+. It's like if all 50 states had an 18+ rule but the national law was 13+; the 13+ gets trumped in all cases. There is nowhere in Japan that sleeping with people <16 has been legal for a very, very long time. They did really need to get that on the books nationally though.

I’ve watched this anime 4 times and currently on my 5th time! The fan service on this episode IS a little much, but thankfully it dies down a bit as the episodes proceed. The plot and characters are what make this show top tier, and the food! Pro chefs on YouTube remake these dishes! I’ll definitely be watching along with y’all!
