I believe the boss underestimated him and went for the kill but took to long not noticing that jinwoo is awake and it was a fluke because if he didn't get that chance with the bosses guard down he would have died. Jinwoo pulled off a fakeout counter.

You're over thinking the win in my opinion. Igris was playing with his food the entire time. Why else would you put away your sword to fight barehanded unless you know you're gonna win anyway. That was what led him to lose because he walked up to Jinwoo ready to finish him but got stabbed in the eye. And then within half a second the dagger went from Igris's hand to Jinwoo's hand back to his own throat. Jinwoo got lucky but he pulled off a great comeback.

The reason they showed his sister and mother is showing what he's fighting for. At least that is how I took it which is why he screamed about not giving up. Great episode and finally the story begins

First off congratulations on getting married happy for you guys! ❤️ About the fight between Igris and jinwoo… jinwoo by all means should’ve lost that fight but the reason he didn’t is because of many reasons manythings. First a normal monster wouldn’t drop his weapons to fight hand to hand with a human that’s his first mistake by Igris. 2nd Igris was winning the fight till he threw jinwoo to the throne. At this point he thought he won already and only needed to land the final blow and let his guard down. Jinwoo took advantage of that and grabbed his sword( in the manwha it explains that it’s a passive effect from one of his armor and how) and stabbed his eye hurting him. Igris took the knife away from his eye and tried stabbing jinwoo with it thinking it was over now but the dagger can’t be used by someone other than jinwoo so it went back to jinwoo inventory. Jinwoo barely won this using all his skills but if Igris would’ve used his weapons and not his fist jinwoo would’ve died a long time ago.

As many said, Jinwoo literally just got lucky against Igris. It's a situation where in a 100 fight he would win only 1 and he happen to get that 1 fight on his first encounter. However, something I would like to add that the anime didn't introduce. In the gear that he collected and wear before the fight with Igris. The gloves have an additional effect; "Prevents hand injuries." It has always been my understanding that any attack made to the hands wearing these gloves will reduce your HP but will not maim them. Which explain why he was able to block the sword. I have no idea why the anime decided to gloss over that detail that seemed so important to me when I first read through the Manhwa. Other then that, amazing animation, I think A1 did an excellent job with the anime overall. Hope you guys have/had fun during your wedding!

I can see why you have mixed feelings about Jinwoo winning this. Igris is clearly stronger than him, as Jinwoo himself said, but knowing that, Igris got too cocky and let his guard down. Even though your opponent is weaker, you should never let your guard down when he is trapped in a corner... This is a way to defeat opponents stronger than you, make them think you are weaker than they themselves think, and that there is no way you will be able to defeat them. If you manage to do that, they will definitely underestimate you. Pretty much like Flamme fought in the past and taught Frieren how to do the same, in the anime Frieren.

I’m loving this show, never heard about it til the anime started. My only criticism is I find myself pausing or rewinding to read the pop ups 😅 probably a skill issue i just can’t read fast enough.

I think the logic to the Igris fight was Igris letting his guard down some and the low health boosts he got with his armor (damage reduction and increase attack when below X% of health) was the "perfect" combo

He won because the monster doesn't have a concept of him pulling items out of a menu. He pulled his dagger out when he caught the sword and it also caught him off guard again when it disappeared and went back into the inventory.

Jin woo was weak at the beggining but he always was very smart. it might no show because the way he was potrayed and the short moment we saw him weak but he always had a good way of thinking ahead because he was always weak. Now he is the product of an very smart guy who was given the ability to get very strong hence you might think get smarter. he just isn't limitated and scarred no more so whatever he think he can possibly achieve it.

100%. It's too fast. In a LN or Manhwa format, you have all the time in the world to read and even in the Manhwa, they would have a recap of his status, skills and newly acquired gear at the end of every chapter. So you could stay on top of things about everything that he had at his disposal.

At 9:11, the anime is actually like an extended version of the manhwa. There are scenes added for runtime and not in the manhwa panels. Could also be adaptation of the light novel instead of the manhwa. And also, CONGRATULATIONS!
