So, we’ve been slacking in progress but I really like the galleon and moth in battle. Over two pages would work but the smaller format for the flagships is useful. We’ve done the nautiloid part of the story with large printed map tiles and it was… a mess. They loved it but keeping all the decks organised is hard. I much prefer the stylised version. For the next space battle I think we will use huge paper tokens for the fleets and your design for the flag ships. Although it’d be useful to have tokens that fit for the weapons on the ship where they can be attacked separately.

So, I've used this and the finchdancer (printed on A4, cut out with a small border) on a coffee table for the Space Elf Attack at the start of Xaryxis. The players liked it. But it got crowded on deck. We did the lowerdecks wit theater of the mind. I think it worked better than a normal battlemap because it made the space battle easier. But we're going to have actual battlemaps for the Lucent Edict in a few weeks.

Hey Rob! Thanks so much for the feedback, it's so helpful to hear how things worked out in actual play and it really informs how the work I do evolves. My goal was to better facilitate the space battle with the smaller sized ship (and to make it easier to just print on a standard sized printer page), but of course the cost of doing that is making the deck space pretty cramped. What do you think about if I'd designed it to fit across two A4 sheets (taped or glued together)? It'd definitely give more room for minis on the decks, but I worry it might be too clunky to move about for the actual space battle. Thanks again for taking the time to reach out and provide feedback - it's so useful for me! -Marshall
