I've been thinking about this over the weekend following the passing of Joao Gilberto - how nice that something he pioneered in the late 1950s should get a fresh update 60 years later. Its tongue in cheek of course but funnily enough the bossa nova genre was not really well understood in the West and often dismissed. Deep in the belly of this masterwork is a lesson in arrangment, intelligence and technique. Parabens as they south of the border.
