According to Shinto rules, at least nowadays, the priestess has to make a choice at the beginning.. but I know they can even get married at some point.. So I think it’s a matter of training their “spiritual powers” when they’re younger/becoming priestess at a young age… but in Kagome’s case, it would be more like checking whether her powers still work after all that time and if she’s still strong enough to keep a balance between spirituality and …having a love story (with a half demon!) 😅, since Kaede had a bad feeling and she wanted to be sure not to put Kagome in danger right after she came back.. but (SPOILER)..I think they got married very soon after her return 🫢♥️
