"Someone call Plato" lol!! There is a lot to think about philosophically, ethically, morally, etc. You asked whether or not the Innie relationship would be as valid as an Outie relationship when it comes to pregnancy. I think my answer would be both yes and no. Yes, because the Innie is a person too, but no because the Innie has no power and would likely be stripped of the child to keep them isolated. That pregnancy debate on TV always made me think of so many different questions: - if the innie gets pregnant at work, this means the Outie has no knowledge of the act. Is that considered rape? - What if the opposite happened and the Outie got pregnant? - Does Innie consent exist? Does Outie consent exist? - What if the Outie got an abortion and the Innie wanted the child? - What if the Innie wanted an abortion, but couldn't get one because the Outie wants the child? - Would Lumon even allow an Outie to go to work while pregnant since that means the Innie would know they have a child? - How is that absence explained to co-workers to prevent them from telling the Innie they have a child? - Does Lumon fire you if you become pregnant? - Dose Lumon have any interest in severing children? - Would Lumon implant a young child and raise them on the inside? - How would the Outie's family react to all of these things? - Did the Innie cause the Outie to cheat on their lover or does that get a pass? So many questions!

If I was Helly, I would still try to get out, but I would be a lot less bold than she is being. I would try to learn more stuff first so I could tell my Outie more about it if I could. Slow and steady kind of approach...Since that would also basically end my life, I would want to wait until I know it's the only way to make things end instead of just doing it on impulse like Helly is. Also, your theory on the Eagen's clumping all of Macrodata Refinement together because of grief and maybe that's why the numbers are scary is VERY interesting. I never thought about it before, but that makes sense since Petey said you carry the pain with you even if you don't understand it. That also makes me curious about the effect the Break Room has on an Outie. Since physical wounds would be an obvious red flag to make people quit, what about psychological wounds? Would the Outie be traumatized by the Break Room but not understand what it is too?
