Rainbow Dash was checking her appearance in the mirror for probably the millionth time when I came strolling into her dressing room in my Equestria dreamscape. In light of things that had happened just a few hours ago seeing her in that outfit caused my pulse to jump. She saw me in the mirror and shot me a nervous smile.

“Hi there Brick! Come to wish me good luck before my awesome performance?”

I smiled strolled over to her. “Yeah and I dropped by to see if needed any company before your performance? How are you doing Dash? Doing all right?”

The prismatic mane mare resumed checking herself in the mirror. “Well I always seem to get butterflies in my stomach before a performance. Ha! Ain’t that ironic, butterflies in the stomach! Sounds like something that Fluttershy would get!”

Dash started checking her rear hoofs for scuff marks, they were perfect but she still examined in minute detail. “I’m not as nervous as I was last year but I’m eager to go out and do my act and terrified at the same time. Am I making any sense Brick or am I just babbling like Pinkie Pie does?”

I stepped forward and gently nuzzled the light cerulean blue mare. “Dash you look great, stop fussing with your outfit and focus on your routine. You’ve practiced it hundreds of times and you’ve rehearsed in your mind a thousand times more. Remember your practice, and believe in yourself. You’re an awesome flier and an amazing young mare. You can do this!”

Dash stopped fiddling with a with her gloves/ front leggings and looked me in the eyes. Brilliant claret red-purple stared into my light blue, for several seconds we said nothing as we looked at each other then slowly she began relaxed. Finally Dash began to giggle and she returned the nuzzling.

“Thanks Brick!” Dash looked down at the ground and scuffed her right front hoof a couple times. “Look Brick, I know over the last couple months I’ve given you some rather mixed and confusing signals about you and I. It might seem like at times that I’ve taken a real shine to you.

Gee! Really? I hadn't noticed! But I refrained from actually saying that.

“And to be honest I have. You’re not the most awesome flier but you’re an awesome, hard working, caring stallion. You told me a while ago that if I thought I was starting to having certain feelings for you to let you know. Well I am. I meant what I said during the oath taking ceremony this morning, but I’m still not certain whether I want a stallion or a mare as my special pony. It’s all very confusing for me right now, but if I decided on a stallion I hope I can find one as nice as you. Am I making any sense at all Brick?”

I smiled and nodded. “I think I understand what you’re trying to say Dash. Remember when we had dinner in Cloudsdale, I said you may not know right away but when you finally decide who that special somepony be honest with them and be honest with yourself. “

I decided to roll the dice and take a chance by being blunt. “If you give it some serious thought and you decide you're really interested in me then be honest and upfront about it, with me, Petina and Carousel. Don’t try to hide it because in the end it will only tear our friendship apart. Let us know and we’ll figure things out from there. You're a very special pony and I want you to be part of my life” I smiled at her. “Understand?”

Dash blushed a bit but looked me in the eyes. “Okay Brick, I will.”

RD closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “You should be heading back to your seat if you want to be there in time for the start of my performance. You won’t want to miss one second of it!”

I grinned and nodded my head. “Understood boss, I’ll be going, but for I leave let me give you something for good luck!”

I had already taken one gamble so I decided try my luck one more time. Rearing up on my hind legs I wrapped front legs around Dash’s neck and kissed her. I felt her body tense for an instant and then relax, for several seconds we remained like that then I got back on four legs and smiled at her.

“Now go out there and give it your all! Give them a performance they’ll never forget Dash, and remember I’ll be there in stands cheering for you!”

Rainbow Dash gave me big smile. “Do you honestly think I would do it any other way?”

I shook my head. “The thought never entered my mind.” Then I turned and flew out of the room.

To be continued.

Cool. And their lives just got a whole lot more exciting!\

I'm reminded of the swing across the gap in the original "Star Wars". And "part of my life" doesn't HAVE to be at all intimate. (Petina would obviously prefer it was, though.)
