While Heartbreaker ran her errand in my Equestria dreamscape, Lunch Break another pony was springing a surprise for somepony.

Marble Vein carefully steered Brilliant Flower toward their destination. The earth pony had a blindfold and silly grin on her face. "Are we there yet?" She asked for the second time.

"Just a bit further dear." Said the unicorn as she led her through the open double doors of her study. Finally she had the mare stop.

"Okay are you ready?" She purred.

"Ready as I'll ever be." Replied the bright yellow pony.

Marble nodded her head. Then she used her levitation to remove the blindfold. Brilliant squinted for a second from the morning sunlight that was pouring through gothic arched windows at one end of Marble's study. Then she gasped when she noticed what was in front of her on the floor.

Resting upon a large piece of russet brown canvas that protected the polished wood floor was the stone that Marble had purchased on her recent trip to Trottingham. Yes, yes, I'll take this one! The unicorn gently rubbed her head against Brilliant's neck.

"This was the extraordinary sample they contacted me about. It arrived with me last night. I wanted you to see it right away." She continued nuzzling the mare. "Isn't it beautiful?"

Giving the unicorn a return nuzzle Brilliant left Marble's side and began pacing around the piece of stone examining if from every angle. The morning sunlight made the stone seem to literally radiate with a rainbow of soft, glowing pastel colors.  As she orbited it she began commenting about it.

"Oh Marble it's exquisite! I can see why you traveled all the way to Trottingham to see it! It's marvelous!"

The earth pony couldn't cast spells but her critical eye began scrutinizing the stone. She squealed and exclaimed with delight over the next few minutes as she noticed many of details that Marble's spells had found, and discovered a few details the unicorn had missed.

Finally she trotted up to the unicorn with a smug smirk on her face. "This is amazing Marble! A once in a lifetime buy. You got this for special study didn't you?"

Marble leaned forward and kissed the mare softly on the lips. Then she spoke "Yes, yes. This will be prepared for a very special study." Growled the unicorn. "When I returned from Ft. Trotterdale, I'll have it properly carved. Of which will you be joining me on the trip?"

Brilliant gently started nuzzling the unicorn again. "Yeah, I'll be coming. But I don't know if it really needs much more dressing. There's a certain beauty in it's current state."

Brilliant Flower sauntered over and stepped onto the stone slab. Then she closed her eyes and stood silently for a moment. Without opening her eyes she spoke.

"Mmmm, yesssss, this is wondrous specimen!" The mare bit her lower lip. "Such a precious, precious thing!"

Marble slowly approached the stone and looked up at her. "And you are precious as well. Would be interested in staying here tonight?"

Brilliant Flower rested her front legs on the raised part of the slab and lowered her head to look into Marbles deep violets eyes.

"Oh, I think I can be talked into it. Dinner in the garden  perhaps?"

  "Of course."

The earth pony played with her mane for a second. "Then a nice long bath with you?"

  "Sound wondrous!" Purred the unicorn.

"Then some much needed mutually grooming." Brilliant leered at Marble. "Then we can spend the rest of the evening mussing up each others manes and tails again!"

Marble stepped forward until their muzzles were almost touching. "That sound like a marvelous way to the end the day dear."

Brilliant looked down at the marble slab. "I know we'll be leaving for Ft. Trotterdale soon, but tomorrow do you want to run some initial tests on this baby?"

"That would be prudent." Said the unicorn.

The earth pony looked back at her with sultry eyes. "We're going to do something amazing!"

 To be continued.

"Something amazing" -- with the stone, at Ft. Trotterdale, or that evening? ;)
