This is commission I finished today for Sonny Strabrite .  He was fascinated with an earlier B/W sketch I'd done of the CMC from Rainbow Rocks and he commissioned a color piece of it. This is the first time I have done any of the Equestria Girls characters in color so there was a bit of discovery in this piece.

Also this piece ended up being a textbook example of a saying one of my instructors in art school said all the time.

"The mark of a professional is not that they deliver when things go right, but that they deliver when things go wrong."

I had finished the piece and was running the dry erase bag over the  white areas of board when some of surface paper suddenly lift off on me. This left me a slightly uneven, discolored area about the size of a quarter. I've used the dry erase bags for decades and it is routine procedure I have done hundreds of times. Strathmore 400 Series Bristol  is a pro grade material that I've used for years but this one sheet had a  flaw. This left me with a discolored area to the left of Scootaloo. By carefully brushing white gouache in thin layers I was able to recreate  the color of the board.

The piece is my usual colored  pencil, marker, technical pen, and white gouache. The board size is 14" x  17" vellum Bristol board.
