One of the things about being in a stable relationship is being there for your partner when things are good, or bad, or sometimes just weird. That's why I spent the morning in my Equestria dreamscape helping Rainbow make sense of the mountain of letters that had suddenly been dumped on her. The Mail Arrives.

Most of the letters were congratulatory fan letters saying how much they'd loved Dash's performance. A few were a bit more difficult to parse but RD thought they were trying to thanks but they'd been written by socially awkward ponies.

A few of the letters were mean-spirited things written by ponies who had either seen Dash's performance and hadn't approve, or had read of it in newspapers.

Then they're was small number of them that were just downright creepy. The kind you should probably forward to the local authorities. One even had a drawing with it. Yep, RD is getting fan art now!

Now when RD had asked Petina and Carousel to develop her routine for the Best Young Fliers Competition they'd warned her that one of the results would be that some ponies would look at her differently now. Here was proof of that.

Since RD had planned to spend the night at our place I recommended that she talk to Petina and Carousel about this. Besides maybe they could help sort and open all of the letters we hadn't gotten too yet.

For Gods sake don't let Petina see those letters! She might some ideas for new ways to 'play'!

And if that scares her be glad she's never seen the stuff posted on FA! It would make her head explode.

Dash also needs to come up with a strategy for responding (or not) to all of these letters. Petina and Carousel, with their experience from "other lives", will be a big help there. "... and hadn't approve, or had read of it in newspapers." And I'm reminded of those individuals (and organizations) that take offense to things they been told are 'bad' but haven't checked themselves. *sigh*

That's fanmail for you: some of it's good, some of it's annoying and some of it requires liberal application of liquid memory block... :D
