The thing that Marc Antony was being rubbed down with that you thought was a massager, is called a 'Strigil'; Instead of just having a bath, a lof Romans would slather themselves with scented oils and then get scraped clean with it before cleaning off with water. Basically a 50BC shower. Brutus being a friend of Julius is a big deal at this point because of what is family is known for. This is an incredibly common thing for people to know at the time so it's not really spoilers, but fair warning anyway; Not only is it kind of important for Brutus to be on Julius's side because they've been good friends forever and Julius is sweet on his mom. The last King of Rome was ousted from his position by the people-- and they were led by a guy named Lucius Junius Brutus. An ancestor of the guy we follow in the show-- If you're friends with the guy who's family kicked out the last King... well, that must mean that you're NOT trying to be king! Julius is basically trying to get a PR win by having Brutus be his friend, while also just having the homie back.
