You're three episodes into a 13-episode season so don't worry about the pacing yet. And Jesse's story is one of addiction. I'm guessing you have never known an addict because, like an addict, spirals are frequent, and frustration is rampant for those that observe and care for the addict. It's scary sometimes how accurate the depictions of drug addiction and drug users are in this show. I was fortunately never an addict, but I knew family and friends that fell into that world, and it's something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.
