The most beautiful unspoken confession I’ve ever seen. At the time, Frieren didn’t know, or cared to know the significance of it. It’s obvious how much that ring means to her now. Loved Himmel’s moment of serendipity (expression) knowing that the ring’s mirrored-lotus design was symbolic for eternal love. That it would be a reminder for Frieren long after he was gone. The bell ringing in the tower triggered Frieren’s memories of her last visit. Love how that this was tied into the main story. It’s brilliant.

I have been all into fantasy action for so long. But for about a year I have been trying more stuff from romance to slice of life and horror. And damn it is so amazing. Especially the recent animes like Overtake, Frieren and I have been watching Violet Evergarden. Been having to drink more from the loss of tears lately XD

I think the reason I didn't like Frieren at first was that it was lacking a plot. However, as you say, it's more like a series of side quests. I've been enjoying it much more thinking of it as that. The character development in this anime is also well done - probably because the writing doesn't have to compete with an overall plot.

I think one genre you've missed out on so far is simple 'slice of life'. The problem with just relying on recommendations is that the content you start with attracts viewers who like that sort of content and so keep recommending and voting for similar.

Something like Horimiya or Golden Time would be a cool change of pace, having a romance, comedy or slice of life to change from the usual action/adventure/isekai/mystery we've had recently, which are really great to have on this channel but in my opinion we need to explore other genres too sometimes.

About the ring Himmel gave Frieren...we're on a magnificent emotional foreshadowing. We saw this ring a few episodes before, when Fern emptied the potion over Frieren's head. Frieren is looking for something else to give to Stark and comes across this ring, which she contemplates for a moment, lost in thought. This ring is present since the 1st episode. Right after Himmel's funeral, a long shot shows Frieren holding and looking at this ring. Once you know where/who this ring comes from and what it means, previously innocuous scenes become emotionally charged. Frieren is a marvel of storytelling and a beauty of animation. - Bunny Girl Senpai - very good and very weird, but good - Death Parade and Erased are both master pieces. The live action of Erased is very good, to - And The Apothecary Dieries, for me, comes very close behind Frieren. I love MaoMao so much 😊

The manga chapter episode 14 is adapting was voted as the best episode in the whole manga, second position was the ending of an arc it will be adapted in the second season (cause everyone knows there will be a second season).

I don't know if it was the author's intent, but Frieren's behaviour reminds me strongly of certain kinds of autism. Some autistic people have a hard time expressing themselves and understanding relationships. You need to be extremely direct because some of us have a hard time noticing subtlty or sarcasm. Also asexual people. Me and my brother are both asexual and if someone is dating or if someone has broken up, we wouldn't notice. I've heard that other asexual people are darn near blind when it comes to noticing people in a relationship. Regardless of if it was the author's intent, I think Frieren will become a strong icon for asexual and neurodivergent people.

Man, the dancing in Frieren is such a step above and beyond contemporary shows too. Like, I was watching Tearmoon Empire in this same season and it's bloody night and day with regards to how well it is animated. In Tearmoon it's just a bunch of 3D models, but here you can't really even tell.
